Atlantis: The Lost Empire - original watercolor layout drawing of Milo carrying a bag containing "The Shepard's Journal" under water after Preston B. Wetmore's submarine was sunk by the leviathans guarding Atlantis, 6 by 11 1/4 inches, in very good condition (there are pinholes in the four corners).  The drawing comes from an early concept that was part of a sequence that was not used in the production of the 2001 Walt Disney animated feature film "Atlantis:The Lost Empire."  In the movie, Milo is not shown underwater.   The drawing was created by Tom Shannon who was the Assistant Head of Layout and who reported directly to David Goetz, the movie's Art Director.  He worked at Disney for over 20 years as a layout artist and was  tasked with designing several elements in the Atlantis movie including the sinking of the submarine. Tom Shannon's job was normally to develop story details including the design of details in characters and backgrounds before the final script was approved and animation began. He worked on many Disney films including Aladdin, Atlantis:The Lost Empire, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Lion King, and Mulan.  This drawing comes from a recent estate sale of Tom Shannon.
