Bronze Standing Naked Male 'Adam' - After Auguste Rodin - 20cm High

Stunning quality bronze sculpture depicting a naked male entitled 'Adam' and after the original by Auguste Rodin. The male is standing with one foot rested atop a rocky outcrop. This is a genuine hot cast bronze finished on a solid marble base, do not confuse this with cheap 'cold cast' resin bronzes this is a true work of art. Height 20cm.

Rodin was strongly influenced by the work of Michelangelo. The direct experience of the Renaissance master's art, both in Italy and in the Musée du Louvre in Paris, seems to have unlocked for Rodin many of the secrets of Michelangelo's modeling. Here they are used to convey the inner anguish and riveted concentration of a powerful but immobilized being. Two of Michelangelo's works explain the meaning as well as the genesis of the strange gestures Rodin gave to Adam, for as Albert Elsen observed in the catalogue for an exhibition titled Rodin at the Museum of Modern Art in New York: the right arm alludes to The Creation of Man, the Sistine Chapel fresco in the Vatican; the left is borrowed from the dead Christ of the Pietà in the Cathedral of Florence. Elsen continued: "the figure is framed by the beginning and end of life, between (these), his body shows its tortured existence."

We are happy to ship to anywhere in the world but please understand shipping costs vary greatly from country to country. If buying from overseas please be aware that an item not weighing a great deal will be priced according to its ' volumetric weight ' so the size of the box it is packed in will determine the cost of the shipping. Often, when shipping overseas it is far more practical to purchase more than one item at a time as we are happy to package together wherever possible to make the shipping quote more bearable.

We have contracts with Parcelforce Worldwide and we pass on our discounted rate to make savings for you, we have an excellent ' 30kg deal' to many European Countries where we pay a set price for a box up to 30kg of weight so feel free to buy a few items and build your own box. We are happy to ship large items such as furniture overseas but these require specific quotes so please provide your address details and ask before bidding.
