Offered here is my personal 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000, a phenomenal machine with under 8,000 original miles and thousands of dollars in tasteful add-ons and modifications. The bike is a terrific machine to look at and ride and gets appreciative looks whether in my shop or anywhere I go.

I bought this machine last year from a friend who would have lost access to proper garage space for his bike and was immediately aware of how tasteful the work was that had been done to the bike - I am not typically one for excessive modifications and while the list (below) is long and likely incomplete, one wonders why these extra-special machines did not come with much of this kit when new.

As I understood Will, the bike was retained originally by a Ducati dealer owner and enthusiast for his own use and enjoyment. At the time that the bikes were new and just a couple of years old, the cottage-industry aftermarket for these was at its peak. Chief among the add-ons are the NCR Zard Titanium Exhausts, which were in the range of $4,000 new and are no longer available. The engine was of course remapped for these exhausts when they were fitted.

A great and attractive addition to the rear seat cowling is this Fleda LED Mini Turnsignal set and brake light along with their license frame which lights up LEDs at the bottom for license plate illumination.

Left turn signal...

Right turn signal...

Up front, the left signal, very bright!

These are such an improvement over the original bulky plastic-chrome lamps.

Close-up of the left ZARD pipe as well as the NCR Schedoni saddle, so comfortable.

Please note the saddle has a slight repair here, not sure why, I received it this way and it in no way impedes comfort.

The suede here is just terrific otherwise.

The add-ons including Rizoma gold anodized billet reservoirs front and rear, NCR titanium clutch cover, EVR gold clutch, carbon fiber rear fender and timing belt covers are all visible in this and following shots.

The carbon fiber belt covers are a welcome change to the stock heavy plastic parts, these are a lot slicker.

The NCR/Zard Titanium exhaust system is intentionally overblued like this as it was originally designed for the NCR 'True Blue' bikes they did.

Near new Diablo Rosso II on the front

As well as in the back.

Many people are rightly concerned about the composite gas tanks on the PS1000. This one has not expanded as I am told that it has had Pure Gas and racing fuel in it for its entire time. The tank fits its mounts and exhibits no outward bulging. You must NOT run ethanol in this tank - if you want this bike and can't find alternative fuel, you will need to buy a metal tank which is out there on the aftermarket or have this one lined (not a 100% guarantee against expansion).

Close up of the EVR clutch and NCR cover

The bike is on the side stand and hence why only a trace amount of oil appears in the sight glass. The camera picked up some reflection on the lower belt cover as well, it is not lumpy or overvarnished as it appears, it is smooth and lovely.

Here you also see the gold anodized Oberon slave cylinder for the clutch. The chain is a DID 525 Gold Anodized x-ring with teflon lube and the bike has Ducati Performance upgraded sprockets from stock. You will also notice the NCR billet cam covers if you look hard.

Mileage as of today! If it goes out I'll not go far, we might have to accommodate a test ride, it will not go over 8,000 during the course of sale.

Note the Öhlins damper, this was extra and not stock. The Rizoma reservoirs are very sharp. Front and rear suspension is Öhlins and is adjustable.

VIN and code stickers on the frame.

The original tool kit, books, warranty card, red key for service work and a spare black key (3 keys in all) as well as the helmet holder cable. Complete!

why I'm selling

Variety of reasons, really. It's not that bad on my back but then again my back has been acting up. I swore I'd just decide to put it in the living room when I tired of riding it as I NEVER tire of looking at it, but then again I'm not that guy, either. I think it's just time to consolidate about 2-3 bikes from the collection and turn them into a new BMW sport tourer sometime later down the road.

While you may have noticed that I sell some collector cars and motorcycles as a dealer, this I can sell you as a private person as it's mine, titled to me free and clear.

Test rides are limited to those who have a valid motorcycle endorsement, full safety gear and can prove that in case of damage to the bike that they can pay for the bike immediately should it be damaged during the test ride. The old rule "you break it, you pay for it" applies here in full.

payment/shipping

Payment is due within seven days of auction close unless cleared with me in advance of your bid. Accepted payment terms include cash, cleared cashier's cheque, wire transfer or counter deposit at a Bank of America branch into my account and visible by me when I check the status of my account. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you require financing, please arrange this prior to any bid you may place. If you have to ask your significant other or spouse, the same rule applies.

Pickup or shipping is due within fourteen days of auction close unless cleared with me in advance of your bid. I recommend Keyboard Motorcycle Shippers in Kentucky if you need to have the bike professionally moved as I think they do the best job with their custom truck chock devices. Most professional motorcycle shipping companies just broker out to the lowest bidder and the bike goes through numerous depots and the like, increasing the risk of damage by LTL haulers. Don't take a chance here, please, I beg you.
