This unit was removed from a vessel during an electronics refit.
Raytheon / Raymarine / Autohelm ST4000 Autopilot Drive Unit. We tested the unit and it is functional, but there are a few items that require disclosure. There is a hub wheel that is missing, the hub still seems to spin freely and it does not seem to affect the units operation, but we would recommend that the wheel be replaced before relying on the unit for proper operation. The drive belt is a little old and is starting to check in a few spots. The belt still holds the hub tightly and does not slip, but it will probably require a new belt for reliable operation. The unit is also missing the brackets that attach it to the helm wheel. If you are using this as a replacement to a defective unit you could easily transfer them over from the old unit. We have included pictures to better illustrate these issues.
Aside from the disclosures above, the unit has some cosmetic scratches and sun fade from normal use. The drive motor is in good condition and puts out a good amount of torque. This would make a great replacement for a damaged or defective unit, or could be refurbished and added to a autopilot head to make a complete system.
