Antike Ikat mantel aus Usbekistan.

Die Ikat-Technik ist eine sehr aufwendige Webtecnik. In der Regel wird dabei Seide verwendet. Die Fäden werden vor dem Weben in lebhaften Farben eingefärbt. Der Weber muss also die Komposition der Ornamente schon vorher genau planen. Der Frauenmantel ist aus einem solchen Ikat-Stoff genäht.
