This is a Wilson Gene Sarazen Four model fairway wood that was played by Gene Sarazen between 1932-1936 and retained by Gene Sarazen until his death in 1999.

The club was sold by Gene Sarazen's daughter, Mary Ann Sarazen of Marco Island, Florida in August of 2010.

The club comes with the statement from Mary Ann, a longtime member of the Golf Collectors Society, about the club's history.

Gene Sarazen had only retained four clubs at the time of his death---three with hickory shafts and this club.

Gene Sarazen will be remembered as the inventor of the modern sand wedge and the first player to complete the modern Grand Slam in his lifetime.

He won the U.S. Open in 1922 & 1932, the PGA in 1922, 1923, and 1933, the British Open in 1932, and the Masters in 1935.

During the 1935 Masters, Sarazen made a double eagle 2 on #15 on the final day to tie for the lead and win in a play-off!

This "shot heard 'round the World" was one of the most famous in golf history.

The club is 42 1/2" in length and has "Heart of the shaft" stamped into the brown sheathing of the shaft.

I would estimate the loft at 16 degrees.
