There's always been something genuinely intriguing about German eccentrics Pollyester, who give the impression of either being unashamedly bonkers, or just overly imaginative. Their tongue-in-cheek blends of krautrock, synth-pop, disco and charity shop electronics - previously seen on Permanent Vacation, amongst others - really shouldn't work, but they consistently deliver entertaining releases. City of O, the combo's third full-length excursion, may well be their strongest album yet. It's packed with highlights, from the cheery disco release of "Catrina" and wonky synthesizer oddness of "City Of Orion I", to the chugging, electroclash influenced "Jealousie" and sugary-sweet "Fall Out Of Love".
