PAUL GURVITZ – Sweetheart Land. Wet World Records VIII. Issued in 2010. FACTORY SEALED NEW CD. Member of Gun and Baker Gurvitz Army new recordings. TRACKS:  Somebody Help Me, Country Girl, Sweetheart Land, Sex @ The Wheel, What Happened To The Sunshine, What Can I Do 4 U, Gotta Feelin’ Comin’ On, Bad 4 Each Other, Who Found Who, and Just 4 The Thrill. DESCRIPTION:  The name may not instantly ring a bell, but you'll find Paul Gurvitz just about everywhere in the course of rock ‘n’ roll music history. He first found success in the British outfit the Londoners, backing band for rock ‘n’ roller Gene Vincent. He rose through the ranks playing in the Knack, and then Gun in 1967, joined by his brother Adrian. Gun had a massive hit song Race With the Devil and two cult albums. Paul then formed a hard rocking super-group called Three Man Army and released a string of influential albums. From there he found international success when he joined forces with former Cream and Blind Faith drummer Ginger Baker in the Baker Gurvitz Army, one of the biggest rock super-groups of the 70's. Now he's back again and fully re-loaded with his new album. Sweetheart Land was a long time in the making. Gurvitz spent most of the 1980's and 90's writing and producing hit songs for such artists as Jody Watley, Five Star, Staci Q, Kim Wilde, Melba Moore, Jermaine Jackson, The Fat Boys, JellyBean, and Stacy Lattisaw, among others. While many artists from Paul Gurvitz's generation tread the same ground, he has consistently kept things new. And in fact, Gurvitz's new album will surprise many fans. Not as loud and overproduced as his work from the past, Gurvitz has found a place somewhere between Americana roots rock and driving power pop with a mellow flavor, perfectly tailored for his soulful vocals and guitar playing. Paul Gurvitz is a one man army, a one man band, playing almost all of the instruments on every track—albeit with a little help from a few friends who include drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio); Jeff Silbar (writer of The Wind Beneath My Wings) on guitar; Brooke Lizotte, Stafford Floyd (Force MD's & Sister Sledge) both on piano; Adrian Lee (Mike + the Mechanics) programming and tech support. The production is punchy and showcases Gurvitz's multi-instrumental skills as a player against a cohesive wall of sound.

If you have any questions or if you have additional information, especially corrections, to the description, please e-mail me. I particularly enjoy when an artist, band member, or someone who has personal background knowledge of a particular album/artist and offers their insight/information of that recording, which I will include with the description for future listings of that release. As a collector of many years, part of the hobby side for me is to learn about the background of the artists and music that I collect. Hopefully, sharing some of this information in my descriptions will help educate and enhance your listening experience.

TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS:

Unless noted, all CDs come in standard jewel cases.

SS or SLD:  Still Sealed or Sealed. Short abbreviation that will appear in the title line of my listings. This item is new and unplayed. Also appears in the listing description as Sealed CD or Factory Sealed CD.

NEW CD:  This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their CDs; some have it both ways (for which I have no prior knowledge of or choice when placing my orders). Other companies use resealable clear outer sleeves which are used on some import and domestic releases. If I receive an item this way it will be shipped as I received it and not opened up. Items received unwrapped are placed inside of a resealable clear outer mylar sleeve at the time they are received.

All CDs that do not come in an outer packaging wrap are inspected by me prior to shipping. It is not unusual to find small imperfections in the disc, especially on European manufactured CDs; these small imperfections do no affect the play of the disc. If, for any reason, a disc does not play it is fully guaranteed by me and is returnable for refund or replacement (see my return policy below for more details). Also an unsealed jewel case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear. If a jewel case is received by me broken, it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received with cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the above item’s description and will be opened up and replaced at the buyers request at the time of purchase (otherwise they will be shipped as is).

GFC or GF:  Gate fold cover, refers to a style of mini-jacket CDs.

S/T:  Self-Titled

2/1:  This denotes that 2 albums are on 1 single CD.

REMAST:  Remastered. More specific sourcing will follow within the item’s description when available.

OOP:  Out Of Print.

MIX:  This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.

*ALL CUSTOMERS*

HANDLING TIME:

Packages are usually shipped in less than 72 hours. NOTE:  This is not the same thing as delivery time, which begins once a package is turned over to the post office; averaging 3-7 business days for US delivery and 5 days to 3 weeks for international delivery. International delivery is largely determined on how long it takes your local customs to process its mail. I will confirm receipt of payment and shipping date via my personal e-mail, adjust your filters accordingly. If you do not hear from me within the first three days after your payment, most likely my attempts to e-mail you have failed. Please keep me posted on your payment plans or any special requirements/needs of your purchase.

RETURN POLICY:

Please e-mail me with specific details and I will get back to you with your options. I ask that if there is a problem with the item that you contact me as soon as possible after receiving it. Any item that must be returned is done so at the buyer’s expense. Any refund, exchange, or substitution/credit will be at the buyer’s choice, but not made until the original item is received back by me; in the condition as stated in the item description.

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

US Customers:  Please wait at least two weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. All packages are shipped with confirmation/tracking, you will received an automatically generated shipping notice via e-mail with your tracking number. It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With First-Class Package International Service my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery, though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.

ALL CUSTOMERS:  If there is a problem with your purchase please e-mail me first with details before filing a resolution.
