The set is very thick with a nice looking textured surface and rich brown color. With the textured look the surface of the mat has some variation which causes wine glasses to sit a bit precariously, so you may need to use a coaster. If you have very messy eaters these place mats may not be ideal because the textured surface traps food debris.

buy these ...they are a good find. be careful with a glass on them however.
Really nice and would be nicer on a large table that seats eight. It also work on set up for four and the table runner fits perfectly on an townhouse kitchen bar. Nice if you like something different.
