The futon arrived in two packages and in excellent shape. All of the parts were there. The directions were very clear and easy to follow. This is assuming the assembler knows to lay out all of the parts first, identify them and actually follow instructions. If assembling is not your thing, get some help. One suggestion is to have a screw driver with a bit that will fit the screw heads. That is much easier and faster than trying to turn a small hex wrench.One person can easily put together the parts with the exception of lifting the seat frame into place. Two people make that process much easier. The frame is heavy and looks nice. Folding and unfolding can be done by one person, but there is a learning curve to do it. To keep the mattress from sliding off of the frame, buy a roll of shelf liner, the rubbery stuff, and use double sided carpet tape to stick it to the seat part of the frame. Cover the whole length of the seat. A whole roll can be found for less than $5.00 versus $15.00 or more for two little pieces sold to do the same thing.

This is a sturdy frame that I (74 year old female) was able to put together by myself. It is keyed with color coding and the directions are pretty straight forward, if you take the time to figure it out before starting and line things up correctly. I am not able to return the frame into a sofa mode alone. Perhaps, when it has more wear on the wood, it will slide easier but for now it takes 2 people. It might also be because I placed a 10" mattress on it - which makes for a comfortable sleep but it comes nearly even with the arms. That's okay though, if a real tall person is sleeping on it.

I like that it is very easy to recline and sit up. The only thing I don't like is the angle of the seat in an upright position. The seat is not flat but angles upward. This makes it less comfortable than I expected.

I am very impressed with this frame. It was relatively easy to assemble (though may be easier with help) once all the parts arrived. May want to be prepared to have to contact Overstock.com to get missing hardware - which they are great about shipping out rather quickly. This is definitely better than the metal frame I had before.

This was not expensive and not too difficult to assemble. The color is very nice. I give it only 4 stars because the wood dowels were missing. We could not finish assembling at night and had to go buy dowels at the hardware store the next day.
