This
lovely approximately 7" china shoulder head doll was created and
produced by Ruth Gibbs and her husband Herbert Johnson in Flemington, New
Jersey, circa 1946-on. The back of her shoulder head is faintly incised with the "R G" initials. The doll's shoulder
head, lower arms, and lower legs are made from pink china and are attached to a stuffed, pink cloth torso over wire armature, so
she can somewhat pose. Her arms move up and down in sync. Her pink tint and her pageboy hair styling indicate that she is a later doll. Please notice her gold painted slippers which sustain light paint loss at their toes and heel areas. Her china sustains areas of glue residue and kiln debris from the manufacturing process. More notable glue seepage occurs on the front of her shoulder head, along her right arm, and along her right leg. Please notice the black spot on the back of her shoulder head. Her stuffed cloth body sustains discoloration, soil, and some darker spotting on its backside. More notable soil occurs on the cloth sections of her body to which her limbs are attached. Her right side waist area has UN-stitched about 3/8 of an inch. She is a pretty doll with dark blue eyes, black painted side lashes, round rosy cheeks, and small heart shaped lips posed in a gentle smile with parted red lips. Her hair is painted black in pageboy styling. Included with her are two calico cotton gowns with coordinating pantaloons, two faded & lightly soiled felt hats (no ribbon ties on the pink one), a straw hat with faded green ribbon, and a straw basket with faded green ribbon. Closures to the brownish calico dress are missing. Both dresses sustain light discoloration and soil from age and storage. Included also is a "Godey's Little Lady Patterns" envelope with cut pattern pieces. I cannot guarantee that all pattern pieces are present. She is a pretty Godey's Little Lady doll with her outfits!
