Simply Copper hammered copper sinks are made from the finest copper available today. Their patinas are created by a fire processing, which will change over time and become more beautiful.

These sinks are handmade in Mexico by artisans who take pride in their work. Each copper sink is unique in its own coloring and character.

Please be aware that since each sink is handmade, there will be slight variations in color, texture, and even size to an extent. The sink pictured above is representative of the sink you will receive. But as stated, each rustic sink is individual and unique.

Maintaining Copper:

The key to maintaining your copper sink in perfect condition is really about what you don't do.  And what you don't do is scrub or polish or use any ac-based or abrasive products on them.  Our copper sinks are finished with a patina that is "fired" in the material and gives them a weathered or "aged" appearance.  If you scrub and polish or use acid-based or abrasive products on them, it will damage the patina finish.  Eventually the copper will return to the patina state, but it will take time.  Just like a penny, your sink and will change and evolve, depending on the amount it is used and the type of water you have in your area.  To maintain your finish, just rinse your sink with water after each use and give it a thorough cleaning with mild soap from time to time.

Hard Water:

If you live in an aread where the mineral content in your water is high, we suggest you wipe your copper sink dry after each use to prevent unsightly spotting.  When "hard water" is left to stand, minerals in the water accumulate and begin to form deposits on your sink.

A Light Wax Coating:

You can give your copper sink an additional layer of protection (especially in hard water areas) by applying a light coat of wax.  A high quality wax, specifically made for plumbing fixtures, will protect your sink against mineral deposits and other types of build ups.  For those who live in hard water areas, waxing will be a definite plus.  How often should you apply a new coat of wax?  As often as needed.  When you  notice that water is no longer "beading up" on the surface of your copper sink, it is time to apply another coat.

Cleaning Your Copper Sink:

Copper is naturally antibacterial and more sanitary than all other materials currently used to make sinks.  Recent studies have shown that bacteria can only live for a few hours on copper, in comparison to a day on stainless steel and even longer on other types of kitchen surfaces.  Your copper sink will do most of the work in keeping itself clean.  All you have to do is help it maintain itself by giving it an occasional cleaning with a very gentle soap.  To clean -- use a soft, NON-ABRASIVE cloth, mild soap without bleach, and warm water and gently wipe the interior of your copper sink.  Rinse thoroughly with clean water and wipe it dry with a clean, soft cloth.
