ReD was a monthly international art magazine published by members of the Czech avant-garde art collective Devětsil, edited and designed by Karel Teige.
Devetsil was at the centre of the Czech art scene of the period; besides Teige its members included Jindrich Styrsky, Toyen, Frantisek Muzika, Jaroslav Seifert, Adolf Hoffmeister, Vitezslav Nezval, Konstantin Biebl and Otakar Mrkvicka.
It was responsible for publishing several important theorizing periodicals and almanacs – including ReD, Devětsil and Život. Thirty issues of ReD were published, among them special issues on the Russian avant-garde and the Bauhaus.
The condition is very good - this is an excellent survival of an extremely fragile publication. It is complete and displays expected handling wear to pages and spine. As always the central pages are loose. An extremely rare and much sought after publication.
