        • ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~

~ one of the most stunning antique blankets I have seen~ This blanket was woven about 100 years ago, and comes from the Carpathian Mountain region of Europe. This blanket is hand woven, using natural wool and hemp~ the same fabric that made this blanket, was also used to make clothing, coats and other special household textiles.  This blanket has the most amazing striped pattern, The ground is a beautiful hemp, and the colored weaves are the naturally dyed wool~*~ Stunning quality,  design and weave. Very heavy weight~ this textile is truly unique, and amazing quality. It is an heirloom treasure~ This textile was stored lovingly in a dowry chest, and came from a large personal collection. The color of the wools chosen to create this textile are BEAUTIFUL! ~*~ The colors include : red,  turquoise, deep chocolate brown wool, burgundy~*~ !! ~*~ This blanket would be the highlight of any room~*~  The panels of wool and hemp were first woven, and then the blanket was created by hand stitching 2 widths of the fabric together down the middle~ Each end is hand stitched with a hem. This is a rare and wonderful textile treasure. ~*~ It would make a STUNNING throw or bedcover or could also be used as upholstery fabric, heavy curtain~~ perfect  gift for any textile lover and a wonderful textile for any collection! ~ ( blanket 325)

        • This blanket is in original unwashed condition with some light storage dirt. It  has survived in lovely condition ~ just a few very small holes in this blanket, visible when held to the light~

        • This wonderful textile measures 4.8 feet (58 inches) wide by 6.75 feet long (81 inches) long~*~  ~

Please email me if condition is vital to your purchase and we can discuss condition in detail. When describing my textiles, I use my best judgment, knowledge and experience to estimate their age. It is an art, rather than a science~*~  I have had many years of research and hands on experience with these wonderful textiles. I describe items as Antique if I estimate the age to be 100 years of age or greater. EBay currently define an antique as dating to 1930 or earlier. I describe items as Vintage, as per the dictionary definition, if I feel the textile has age, or is outdated or old-fashioned, dating from the past. If I use both Antique/Vintage when describing a textile, it is because I feel the textile is most likely 100 years of age or greater, but may fall just short of that date. I often work in collaboration with other colleagues and textile specialists to ascertain the approximate age of my textiles, however ultimately any statement of age is a matter of best judgment only~*~I also use my best professional judgment to ascertain the fiber content of my textiles, using sight and feel and where possible historical information and context to help me to identify plants used in a particular era. However, because my textiles are old, any statement of fiber content is again always only my best professional assessment. ~*~ I feel privileged and honored to bring these textiles to you, I sincerely thank you for your interest ~*~
