Fit 1994-2004 Mustang COBRA front discs to 74-78 Mustang II spindles

 

THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE COMPLETE FRONT SET of BRACKETS, BOLTS AND CENTERING RINGS ONLY

Customer to provide the following parts to complete this conversion:

  • Front calipers from 1994 to 2004 COBRA, MACH I, or Bullitt Mustang
  • Rotors from 1994 to 2004 COBRA, MACH I, or Bullitt Mustang
  • Front drum brake 5-lug hubs from 65-73 Mustang or equivalent size Ford
  • Longer wheel studs for the drum brake hubs
  • Hoses to connect calipers to the hard lines.  OEM cobra hoses are not the best for this, but the aftermarket hoses without the steel tube @ the caliper end work great.

Great for COBRA kit cars or street rods with standard height or 2" lowered Mustang II spindles.  Finally, a REAL big brake kit for the Mustang II disc brake spindles. 

Master cylinders and proportioning valves are available as options, just contact seller after purchase and items can be added.

  • Non-Adjustable Proportioning Valve  -  $95 additional (reproduction of 70 Mustang disc/drum combination valve)
  • This retrofit kit, as with other MustangSteve products, uses easily replaceable and obtainable FORD parts for anything that could ever wear out.  A BIG PLUS if you ever need a brake part in a hurry!
    • Utilizes original 65-73 drum brake hub (discard the drum and use the old hub)
    • and a 74-78 Mustang II or aftermarket Mustang II type spindle.
    • You DO NOT have to remove the original spindle from the car
    • You DO NOT have to have the front end realigned after installation
    • TRACK WIDTH REMAINS AS STOCK
    • Requires 17" wheels. Wheel must be able to clear the larger calipers.  Any wheels that clear stock Cobra/MACH I/BULLITT  brake setup will fit as these duplicate the dimensions exactly of a 94-04 Cobra. 
    • Don't want late model Ford factory wheels? This design lets you have the BIG BRAKES and run many different aftermarket wheels, if they have the correct backspacing and will clear the caliper.
    • NO WHEEL SPACER REQUIRED, at all!  Of course, the late model 17x8 Mustang wheels will fit as well using a billet aluminum 1" spacer. (The deeper offset of the 94-04 Mustang wheel requires the spacer, NOT the brake setup)  Normal fitment is 17x8 with 4.5" backspacing. BEST fitment is 17x7 with 4.0" backspacing.  Refer to Mustang Monthly Magazine's article on my 66 fastback with these COBRA brakes and 17x7 narrowed Bullitt wheels.     PURCHASER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING WHEEL FITMENT FOR YOUR VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!!  American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels will NOT clear the calipers unless a 1/4" spacer and longer studs are used.  Torque Thrust M wheels do clear.  I am not aware of any other 17" wheels that do not fit, but I do not have access to every wheel out there, so check clearance before you purchase wheels.
