This is a 12"x24" Lyon&healy bass drum. I believe its from the late 1910s to 1920s. Reason I'm saying this is, on the lugs there is pat. 1912 on them and on the paper label on the inside I can make out a 3-20. The label on the inside has a peice of it missing. What it says is: est. 1864, the Lyon&healy logo, factories :Healy station, arerooms: wabash ave. at Jackson, Chicago and at the bottom lefthand corner where some is missing there's a 3-20. It looks like the shell is made of mahogany and the reinforcement rings are maple. It has 10 lugs. All have pat 1912 engraved on them. The spurs have leedy engraved on them. They clamp mount to the drum. The drum muffler also mounts by clamp. I can't find a makers mark on it. It's a little tarnished on the backside. It has a remo weather king head with no holes or splits. It's missing the other head. There is a modification done to this drum. A wooden ring was installed for the hoop to catch on because there's only one head. The ring can be taken off by removing 4 flathead screws. Then you could put another head on it. All the hardware seems to be all here and I do believe the lugs are original to this drum. This was my friends fathers drum. He played in a band in the thirtys. I've sold other drums and hardware for him recently and I could date it all through research but I can't find another drum like this one. I think its from the 20s or earlier. Let me know if I'm wrong and ill correct the discription. This drum is sold as is. No returns. Thanks for looking. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'll answer them the best I can.
