This is an original 1930s to WWII era Imperial Japanese Army gunto sword tsuka. The condition is better than excellent, it's extremely nice and shows hardly any signs of use at all. The fuchi, kaburogane and sarute are all present and in wonderful condition. Of course the menuki are still there and perfect too. Look at the peg hole, it shows no sign of wear at all. The same (skin) wrap is perfect. The handle cord wrapping shows very little signs of use. The wood core is perfect. The tsuka measures a total length of 260 mm (approx. 10.25 inches). The opening for the sword tang is approx. 26.5 mm x 6.5 mm. From top of fuchi to the center of the peg hole is 45 mm. See all the photos, original war era tsuka aren't found everyday in such pristine condition. What you see in the picture is how nice it really is. It's absolutely guaranteed to be an original war era piece and never been tampered with. See my other auctions for more unusual items from Japan. Win multiple auctions to save on shipping costs.
