You are bidding on a rare 1956, 5th impression copy of  ''The Fellowship of the Ring'' by J. R. R. Tolkien and publisher George Allen & Unwin. The book is in fine condition, 423pp plus map. Original red cloth boards with gilts titles to spine. Fold out map in fine, clean condition and neatly folded, it has a tiny tear where it's attached to the book (as shown in the photo 12). The cover and spine slightly bumped and faded as shown. No torn pages or spotting and an almost fine copy. From my research I understand that the 5th impression is the first edition for the UK.
