Background

The Collins MM-1 is a 22 ounce (nearly 2 pounds) PTT (push to talk) dynamic high-impedance microphone designed to fit in your hand comfortably. This microphone has been engineered for maximum voice response. The microphone has an indestructible die-cast case which is finished in brushed satin chrome. A neat feature of the MM-1 microphone is the location of the mounting button which is on the front. When the MM-1 is removed from its resting bracket, the microphone is instantly in position for transmission. The MM-1 is equipped with a five-foot length of coiled cord. The MM-1 has a frequency response from 200 to 10,000 cycles per second and has an output level of -48 db. This solid hand microphone features a 3/8 inch plug and was made in Cedar Rapids IA, USA.

The high impedance characteristics are accomplished by means of an internal up-transformer. This makes the microphone perfect for Collins tube equipment, but of course you can also use it for other vintage tube equipment if you wanted to do so.

The microphone has excellent audio characteristics, a flat response with a pull-up on the low side. This makes for a crisp sounding modulation on the air with ample bass, without loosing the higher end of the audio spectrum. For that reason, these microphones are highly sought-after by audiophiles and Collins collectors.

Don’t mess around with poor substitutes for your vintage radio station. This is your chance to get the real thing, a genuine Collins MM-1 microphone in excellent condition, to complete your vintage Collins line. Don’t let it slip away now by bidding too late!

Payment & shipping

US based bidders:

Payment through PayPal, or cash when you prefer to pick it up locally.

The reflected shipping cost is based on actual box size, weight and your zip code as it is known with eBay. Insurance is included in the reflected shipping cost, so that we can reimburse you in the unlikely event the carrier damages or looses the shipment outside our control.

The item will be packaged really well to assure it arrives at your destination undamaged. I know from experience how annoying it can be to receive eBay purchases packed with sub-par pack jobs. NOT with us. We have never had a loss or complaint due to bad packing; we do not try to make money on packing. Our FIRST priority is that your purchase arrives at your destination safely. So we only do the best pack job possible. The cost for packing materials (not cheap nowadays!) is included in the shipping cost.

International bidders:

International bidders are welcome on condition that you contact me first for a shipping quote before you bid, to avoid surprises for the both of us after the auction has ended. International shipments will be with USPS as they are the most cost-effective. We ship everything insured, this will be included in the shipping cost. We will not change the value of the item on the shipping documents, so please do not ask. Tampering with shipping documents is a federal crime here in the US, and all the bad things you have seen in the movies about US prisons are true.

PLEASE! If you are not serious about paying for the item once the auction has ended, you should NOT bid!

Thank you for looking at this auction.
