FENDERSQUIER A SERIES HH CONTEMPORARY ST 335 STRATOCASTER IN DAKOTA RED

BUILT VERY PROBABLY IN 1985, IN THE FUJIGEN GAKKI PLANT, IN JAPAN.

serial number A007769. (Located on the Neck Plate on the back of the body)

THIS EXAMPLE IS FINISHED IN DAKAOTA RED, WHICH NOW AFTER 28 YEARS, IS STILL A BRIGHT VIBRANT COLOUR with, we believe, the Original whammy bar

THIS STRAT IS IN REALLY GREAT USED CONDITION

WITH JUST A FEW AGE RELATED DINKS AND REALLY LIGHT SCRATCHES. WE HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED AND SHOWN THE WORST OF THESE BUT REALLY, EVEN THESE ARE SO INSIGNIFICANT.. THE OTHERS ARE SO SMALL AND INCONSEQUENTIAL THAT THEY JUST WOULDN'T FOCUS FOR PHOTOGRAPHING.

There are also lots of detailed pics further on down the listing.

THESE A SERIES SQUIER STRATS ARE SO VERY VERY RARE!

THIS IS NOT A SQUIER GUITAR IN ANY SENSE OF THE TERM AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.

PLEASE READ ON...

IN  1982: Fender Japan started production with Fujigen Gakki having the manufacturing contract. The "Made in Japan" (MIJ) logo is used. Due to the contract with CBS Fender, the MIJ built guitars can only go under the name of Squier..this is when the now renowned JV series was born.

IN 1984: CBS sells Fender to its current owners and while waiting for a new USA factory to begin production, Fender Japan models and leftover USA stock were mostly sold in the USA for a few years. The Japanese factory was not equipped to produce all the parts needed at first so CBS sent there parts that had been "warehoused" from the Leo Fender era.

Yes thats right.. USA Fender parts were sent to Japan to become MIJ Squiers. Very soon,  CBS were struggling with profits in the USA and the quality of US built guitars was apparently a little shaky very soon musician were realising that they could pick up an MIJ for a fraction of the price of the US built counterparts and the quality was probably better.

OK... back to this specific guitar...

There is a Handwritten Date on the Heel of this guitar's neck. Fender Japan have never hand written dates on the heels.. not back then, nor at any time since and not now. This neck was produced in the USA dated 14th November 1984, 11/14/84... the American dates are always Month first (11), then day of the month (14) then year. This neck manufactured in the USA and was then sent to Japan and the Japanese stamped their own code onto the flat part of the heel, as is the norm. This Detail makes this guitar a rarity in itself as Not many of the USA necks were sent with the original Handwritten date on them. This is also why we believe that this guitar was assembled in 1985 as opposed to 86.

The neck on this Guitar is absolutely fabulous to play on and Gorgeous to look at.

Next look at the neck plate and notice the small hole at the bottom edge. This is the micro tilt. This Micro tilt was one of the details that made the USA Fender of the same period more desirable than the Squier but this Squier even has the tilt too. This is the only Squier.. the A Series Squier, to have the micro tilt.

It also has the 22 fret neck scale of a G**son which is unique and the same medium scale length of 24  3/42 as opposed to the usual Fender scale length of 25 1/2". This detail along with the over sized double Humbuckers means you've pretty much got a Gibson-esque rocker but with out the weight. This Squier weighs in at around 7lbs 9 oz.

If you look at a MIJ Fender Double Humbucker model you will notice the Pick ups are smaller and with out the surrounds/frames these pups are awesome they can be overdriven to a real growl or be played bright and articulate when clean. Its like playing a G**son but with the lighter Strat feel. If you are a Srat or Telecaster player you will probably notice a difference in the string tension on this guitar. Its a bit "bendier" like a les paul.. quite unique.

All these little details make this strat one of the most sought after MIJ Squiers along with the JV's. Its got it all the USA handwritten neck with Tilt, the Gibson Les Paul scale length, the oversized Japanese Humbuckers with the pup surrounds.

On top of all that it benefits from the beautifully figured maple neck with 22 medium frets, 12 inch radius and nicely grained rosewood "slab" fretboard. There are FENDER JAPAN stamped sealed Tuners and a vintage Style synchronised tremolo bridge with Fender stamped string saddles.

Look at the tiny nylon washers under the string trees on the headstock, the Japanese attention to detail is quite incredible.. we love it!!

There are a few tiny blemishes as we have said and photographed but nothing that affects the collectability of this Famous Strat.. really this A Series Squier is a moment in Fender history, it's a collectors dream and really, I mean , really rare..

We do try to describe as accurately as possible but .. dont expect a guitar in absolutely mint condition or as new. It's 28 years old...Thats why we've uploaded so many pics....please examine carefully and make sure that you are happy before buying.
