Hi there - as you will see from my eBay history, I am thinning out my collection of old computers and gadgets I have accumulated over the years. I describe everything honestly, sometimes I am a little too critical, but I have 100% record from satisfied buyers/sellers so it's working....

This machine is an ultra-rare ThinkPad 701c dating back to the mid-90s I believe .... definitely qualifying it for Vintage and Collectable!
Please see the brief history here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_ThinkPad_Butterfly_keyboard and http://ee.lbl.gov/leres/butterfly/

As you will see, these are usually in the hands of museums so rarely become available for sale. It is therefore impossible for me to price this (downside) so I am taking a guess and see where this goes.

I do not have the correct power supply but a modern ThinkPad ( x31 ) power supply was enough to get it to boot through self-test at least. This machine has a massive 24kb RAM and a 2Gb hard disk, a couple of PCMCIA slots and a clip-on dock for serial, parallel and monitor. Cosmetically the machine is good with no major scratches or marks and certainly no broken parts apart from the battery clip which refuses to hold the battery pack in place :-(

The fabulous "butterfly" mechanism works smoothly but I cannot test it to ensure it still works - with the amount of flexible connectors under that keyboard and the age of the machine, I cannot promise anything.

This has been stored for almost 10 years waiting resurrection in my home office but an imminent house-move forces sale before I get a chance to work on it. Serious hobbyist/collector interest only - you will never play any modern games on this :-)

Any questions, let me know  ... happy bidding!
