Up for your consideration is this very unique piece of WWII era solider tattoo art. We acquired this from a large estate in Western Connecticut. The estate belonged to a former WWII solider and photographer. We are listing most of his collection this week, which consists of various photograph collections that include pictures of pinup and tattoo related flash style items. This large 30" hand carved wood arm has a plaster coating outside, most likely to smooth out irregular areas in the wood. It appears to be 2 pieces of joined wood. We see significant color differences from the exterior of this piece and the areas which have fallen off. We do see some areas of wear, some down to the wood, around the fingers and backside of the hand. The plaster is slightly brittle but not so much that it flakes easily. We see the paint used on this piece has faded slightly. This piece is structurally sound and shows no signs of weakness. We wish we knew if this was originally meant to be a trade sign or perhaps a plaque in a shop, however we are listing this as a trade sign now because of its potential use as one.

We are listing this piece of iconic WWII tattoo flash folk art with NO RESERVE.

This carving measures approximately 30 inches long and 8 inches wide.
