For Sale :- E46 M3 & Z4M Corroded Exhaust Repair Flanges



If you are reading this then I assume you are aware of the problems associated with the E46 M3 & E85/6 Z4M exhaust system, this affects both the OEM system and some aftermarket systems. If you’re not aware of this problem it will eventually rear its ugly head, most likely when the MOT man fails it for a blowing exhaust system.

The problem arises from the fact that BMW used a cast iron flange on its beautiful stainless steel exhaust, so whilst the exhaust will last a lifetime the flanges that connect the mid-section to the back box won’t. Due to the design of this joint the flanges are not easily replaced as the ends of the pipes are flared and therefore you can’t slip new flanges onto the exhaust. There is no solution offered by BMW for this problem other than a brand new exhaust =£K’s! So as the saying goes necessity is the mother of all invention and thus these stainless steel split flanges were born!

These are very easy to fit as they simply slip over the pipe and the bolts retain the flange. They are a fit and forget solution as they are cast from 304L stainless steel. They have been designed using 3D CAD software for exact fit, they are manufactured to a very high standard and they have been fitted to hundreds of cars already so rest assured you can buy with confidence and this DOES solve the problem for good.

I know they are not the cheapest but it does reflect the price of small batch stainless steel cast manufacturing and it does mitigate the BMW option of replacing the whole lot, which only resets the clock on the problem, it will eventually fail in exactly the same way!

This auction is for the 4 complete flanges, so 8 halves in total which completely replaces all the OEM flanges for stainless ones. It does not include new bolts or gaskets. You will require 4x M8x50mm bolts and potentially new gaskets which are available from BMW (many fit these flanges without changing the gaskets, it’s up to you).
