1962/1963 OMEGA SPEEDMASTER. Straight lugs model. Cal. 321. Rare. Model: 105-003 from 1962/63. we took brutal close up pictures to show the details; the watch looks just stunning in person !  the Movement  number  20525+++++    puts this Speedy in the range of the known movement numbers of the most desirable model 105-002 from 1962. only produced for a short time during 1962/64.

100% all original parts  and model 105-003 from 1962/1963.   Ok, lets take a closer look at this  clean example, this is a 2 owner watch.  it came as a commission sale and is from the Estate of a doctor. very nice and all original  dial still has the original lume ! ( This Ed White NASA Omega Chronogrpah  comes with the Steel dauphine  hands ; we will include used white stick Minute and Hour hands  as well; in case , you want to change and save the steel hands.  the steel hands lume turned brown and they do not glow in the dark anymore. they are spotted and lost a bit of the shiny appearance. they have a few scratches from previous services and use. hard to notice, but there.....) The Original dial starts to turn into a brownish colour around the inner edges and small scales. there are a few spots , that show the colour change. one of the small hands seems to have a damaged tip; we will include a better hand. but we did not change anything ; that is up for the buyer to decide. The 40mm (without crown) case is solid stainless steel. Looks excellent on the wrist. only a few  scratches from everyday wear. the all original Pulsometer bezel is aged into a grey/blue`ish colour ! this is only the 5. turned grey`ish pulsometer  bezel, I`ve seen for sale in 20 years !!!! it is a stunning bezel; has a few small dings and dents, as you can see. but all original Omega and no flaking at all. and is a compliment to the watch.   the winning bidder can have a NOS Omega insert. we are more than happy to keep the aged insert.  There is NO metal corrosion anywhere on this case; even in the case  threads, where it screws down. very Rare  after 52 years as a tool watch !  The 321 movement is original to this watch. service history unknown . Fantastic quality manual wind watch. the watch is working and  keeps   time. It is a bit fast; a sign of a needed service. nice copper colour plated movement without big scratches. was well taken care of  with  watchmakers repair marks inside the case ! but the winning bidder can have a fresh movement service from the omega trained watchmaker in sydney for the actual cost price ( max. A$ 450 without parts), if she/he wishes to do so. that will be cheaper than in europe anyway.  but because of the unknown service history, it is sold as is.

NASA tested this model: 105 003 in 1964-65 independently (without the makers knowledge) along with several leading brands including, Rol*x, Br**tling, Omega….etc to name a few. Only the Omega Speedmaster 105 003 passed all the stringent NASA tests. Of course the rest is history……. 1st and only watch ever to be worn on the moon etc….. In late 1965/ 1966 Omega changed the Speedmaster case; putting crown guards on the case and writing PROFESSIONAL on the dial ( 1966/1967) to commemorate their association with the NASA space program. That model is: 105 012.

However this watch here for sale is the model and same 321 calibre movement and case, that the brutal  NASA tests actually passed. This is a very rare and highly collectable watch.

it is a real headturner; a stunning combination of an original  speedmaster with the aged bezelinsert and a turning brown dial and  an extremely well taken care of Champion steel band with sliding clasp; called NASA band with the horned ends.

this is a very unusual chronograph. even more with the old style dauphine hands from the early models, that gives it a distinguished look.  the buy it now price is A$ 9500. with todays exchange rate ( which might be different at the time of the sale...) : euro 6850 or US$ 7400. proposals are welcome. we ship with your desired description and the way, you want to handle it. ask us after you won the auction.

many questions about the hands: Yes, we include the white stick hour and minute hand as well ! and the strange looking 9 o`clock sub dial hand has been changed into the correct vintage omega hand. the original hand had lost it`s tip somehow and looked too short...and the NASA band is used, but very well kept. if you do not want the NASA band, talk to us, after you won the auction. we are more than happy to keep it and adjust accordingly !!

so, many questions in the last week.......... time for answers..........we included 2 new pictures from the dial, after we took it out of the case to replace that slightly short counter hand at 9 with a used, but all original omega speedmaster hand . correct lengths now. these last 2 pictures show very clearly the dial without distortion. it is very hard to capture the colours, that change with the light angle. these 2 pics. are taken with non natural light. this dial looks browner in day light. it shows clearly the uneven transformation into a brownish colour. that is never even. and it is definitely not caused by moisture. the lume has crumbled on a few markers; still there, not flaked. but the sharp lines have changed. after all, this is a toolwatch and has seen a lot of daily wear over the last 52 years. the steel hands are slightly tarnished. the hour hand is a little bit bent at the tip, but has the correct lengths. the lume on all hands has changed colour as well and is sharp straight to the edges. something else: we will adjust accordingly if you do not want the horned NASA steel band. we are more than happy to keep it ! and there is one very tempting offer for the bezel alone. we might end the auction soon and relist with a normal bezel for a different price. therefore, pls. let us know your intention and send your comments with normal email, as supplied in the listing.
