Why embroidered patches?

Patches are an easy and affordable way to brighten up and customise clothing, bags and all kinds of fabric projects. Embroidered patches have been used for decades to brand and personalise garments because of their durability and long lasting quality that makes them an obvious choice over printing.

Tips for using your new patch

- All of these patches can be ironed or sewn on, although due to their vintage nature it is worth noting that the heat activated glue might not be what it once was, and sewing may be required. I personally recommend sewing your patch on, as this will make it more resistant to washing and general wear.

- If you are sewing your patch on, don't remove the backing plastic as this is also used to hold the embroidery together. You can hold your patch in place for sewing using spray adhesive or double sided tape. Sew around the circumference of your patch, being sure to sew beyond the start point to ensure your stitching won't come undone.

- If you plan to iron your patch onto the fabric, pass your iron over the fabric for approximately 12 seconds to heat it, and then apply the patch and iron over the top for 12 seconds, applying some pressure for the heat to permeate the embroidery.

- Do not iron onto fabrics that can be spoiled by heat (such as leather and suede).

Why buy vintage?

Not only do vintage items provide a snapshot of the past, buying vintage gives you the feeling of owning something unique and authentic that sets you apart. Our planet cannot digest plastics, harmful inks and dyes, or the toxic outputs of modern day manufacturing. Part of my passion for vintage items is the opportunity to buy things already in existence, rather than manufacturing more.
