Parkinson's is a confectionary legend, inventing butterscotch in the 19th century and has been running since 1817.  Even the Doncaster Football team were called the Butterscotch boys after our product.

The Trademark was valued by a reputable accountants at over £1million but that was when we were selling 800,000 units per year.

Since 2006, 2007 and 2008 we sold over 800,000 boxes of product per year.  However, in 2009 I could not divert my attentions and sales dropped to 200,000.  In 2010, sales were no more than 100 and in 2011 we have had orders but I have been too busy to fullfill and have had to apologise to customers.

Our product is regularlly counterfieted becauase there is more demand than supply from Tourists from the USA and Japan.  Every year I have to sue counterfeiters.  In 2011 we had to take legal action for a counterfeiter completing orders under our name in the same town (Doncaster) and we got a result.

Whats included in the sale:

* Trademark - (£50 transfer fee required)

* Websites  doncasterbutterscotch.com and .co.uk and parkinsonsconfectionary.com and .co.uk and parkinsonsconfectionery.com and .co.uk (domain transfer fees will apply about £10 I think or I can forward the renewal costs or host for you)

* Logos and design work

* Barcode registration - registered barcodes for retail.

I now have a very demanding job and cannot run this business anymore.  It needs to be run by someone with the time and I already own several businesses, all of which I am selling.

We have appear i several museums around the UK and I have done interviews with the BBC, Japanese newspapers, Japan Air magazine, a new york cookery magazine, serveral USA websites and thousands of newspaper article and magazines have printed our story.  We even appear on wikipedia.

The wiki page on us:

The word butterscotch was first recorded in Doncaster, a Yorkshire city in England, where Samuel Parkinson began making the candy in 1817.  In 1851 Parkinson Butterscotch was given to Queen Victoria on her visit to Doncaster and the St Leger where the Queen opened the St Leger.  Following the Queen's visit Parkinson's Butterscotch had royal approval and was one of Doncaster's attractions until it ceased production in 1977.

In 2003 the recipe was found by the wife of a local businessman and revived.  In 2007, over 150 years after Queen Victoria, the Doncaster Racecourse was completely rebuilt and reopened by the Princess Royal who in keeping with the tradition was presented with Butterscotch supplied by the new Parkinson's Doncaster Butterscotch Company, based just 600 yards from the old Parkinson Company

Marketing:

It is importnant to note that the vast amount of business comes in through leads from the Internet in some shape or form.  We get a lot of people who have researched us on the Internet and may have not even been to our website but got our email address or phone number somehow.

We have spent a lot of time making sure our PR was right.  Not many small companies get the same type of exposure on wikipedia as us.  Try typing in Butterscotch and you will see how we link.  A little bit of effort needs to be done to restore the S Parkinson's wiki entry as it was incorrectly referenced and subsequently deleted, this can be easily fixed.  This kind of PR is worth a fortune and has been painstakingly put together over several years.  The story is well known and the Internet is a great medium to distribute it.  Some companies would kill for this kind of PR and they would build on it.  This is an excellent springboard for any buyer to start and build up their own Confectionary Empire.  Parkinson's was massive in the early part of the 20th Century, owning the trademark would be like owning the trademark to some current modern icon that briefly fades away.

Demographics:

The older generations in the modern world are the majority and they are also the kind of demographic that will remember Parkinson's and its heyday.  They are also the most affluent and have the highest disposable income.  The Parkinson's name, trademark, story and overall product make a great gift and the majority of your orders will come around Christmas and Easter.
