This is an unused Zeta Retropak (Model VR-204) for a violin.  It replaces the bridge and tailpiece on an acoustic violin and is designed to output the violin sound from either, 1) the 1/4" jack on the beltpack module that also includes a volume knob or, 2) through the multi-cable that is intended to connect to any of the Zeta MIDI interfaces (check eBay for Synthony or VC-225 units).  Once this is installed on an acoustic violin, problems of feedback are a thing of the past.  The output of this system is a full and rich electric violin sound.

This Zeta violin pickup is no longer made and very hard to find, and to find in this new unused condition is practically impossible.  It will make an acoustic violin sound like the Jazz series Zeta electric violins.  Inside the beltpack are user adjustments to set the volume of each string.  A 9-volt battery is required inside the beltpack and will last for thousands of hours.  A small hex wrench is included to adjust the height of the bridge on either side.  The bridge feet are rubber which isolate the vibrations from the instrument and prevent leaving any marks on the finish.

With the Zeta Synthony or VC-225 (not included), the violinist can play MIDI synthesizer and sampled sounds from the violin, and with a computer easily record notated music in any sequencer software.  Zeta products are known for, "Creating Technology to Serve Tradition."  In addition to the excellent full electric violin sound, this pickup system allows the contemporary violinist to enter the world of MIDI synthesis and notation from a traditional acoustic violin.
