Bronze Military Statue Sculpture

figure of the WW1 German Soldier DAS SCHLACHTEN DER JUGEND (THE
SLAUGHTERING OF THE YOUTH).
This heavy Cold Cast Bronze statue has been sculptured by the
Artist Tony Whiteford.
The attention to detail is very good, showing the youth of the
thousands of German students, who beleaving the Kiasers retoric
joined up to fight for the Fatherland only to be slaughtered in
thier tens of thouthsands. The film All Quiet On The Western
Front was based on the events leading up to this.On the front of
the piece is a German service medal and on the rear the logo Das
Schlachen Der Jugend (The Slaaughtering Of The Youth).
It stands 11 inches high (28 centimetres) and it weighs an
impressive 2.25 lbs or 1 kilo.Cold cast bronze is the figure is
coated with bronze and back filled with resin and heavy ingots
to give wieght. Each piece is coated with laquer to protect it
there is no paint involved. This system is over one hundred
years old and gives a finer finish. Each piece is coated with
lacquer to protect it in the early days this will wear off in
time with polishing, no paint is used in this process.
