Tusche-Aquarell 1905 Vexierbild (Opt.Täuschung)
"LEBEN UND TOD" - Totenkopf oder 2 Mädchen mit Hund 48x59cm Holzrahmen Motiv und Hintergrund: Im viktorianischen Zeitalter und insb. Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts waren sogenannte Vexierbilder (optische Täuschungen), die erst beim zweiten Blick einen Totenkopf erkennen lassen, sehr populär. Ausgehend von der 1892 entstandenen, bekannten Skizze “All is Vanity” von C. A. Gilbert gab es eine Reihe weiterer Künstler, die diese Idee umsetzten. Einer davon war ein Künstler namens "Callieni", der "Life and Death as Seen from Far and Near” schuf (siehe "Seeing Double" von J. Block Richard). Es zeigt vordergründig zwei Mädchen, die mit mit einem Hund spielen und läßt bei entfernterer Betrachtung einen Totenkopf erkennen. Vermutlich entstand Callieni's Werk Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Später (siehe letztes Bild in der Artikelbeschreibung) wurde es in verschiedenen Varianten reproduziert, u.a. auch als Postkartenmotiv, z.B. mit dem französischen Aufdruck "Aujourd' nui rose, demain" oder in einer russischen Version mit "Бальгейм" "Теперь и потом" ("Nun und dann"). 2006 wurde es als Vorlage für das Cover des Albums "Devil's Got A New Disguise, The Very Best Of" der Rock-Band Aerosmith verwendet und hat - vermutlich dadurch - inzwischen als Vorlage auch Einzug in die Tatoo-Szene gefunden. Angebotenes Bild: Das angebotene Bild ist ein Replikat von Callieni's Werk, das von einem Maler aus der niederbayerischen Stadt Rottenburg an der Laaber zwischen 1900 und 1915 in Tusche- oder Aquarelltechnik angefertigt wurde. Es ist mit "R. Oettl fät." signiert und trägt den Titel "Leben und Tod". Das eigentliche Bild ist 203*289 mm groß. Es ist mit Bleistift-Linien (?) umrandet, mit einem mehrschichtigen Passepartout mit einem Ausschnitt von 383*290 mm abgedeckt und in einem Holzrahmen mit den Außenabmessungen 483*588 mm gerahmt. Das Bild wiegt incl. Rahmen ca. 2,3 kg. Die Lieferung erfolgt in einem 75*53*12 cm großem, mit Styropor gepuffertem Karton. Für Käufer in Deutschland gilt: Der Verkauf erfolgt von Privat unter Ausschluß jeglicher Sachmangelhaftung. Starting from the well known sketch “All is Vanity”, created in 1892 by C. A. Gilbert, there were a number of other artists, who implement this idea. Superficially it shows two girls playing with a dog, for distant viewing it reveals a skull. Probably Callieni's artwork originated at the end of the 19th century. Later (as to see in the last picture of this article description) it was reproduced in different versions, et al also as postcard motif, e.g. with the french overprint "Aujourd' nui rose, demain" or in a russian version with "Бальгейм" "Теперь и потом" ("Now and then"). In 2006 it was used for the cover of the record "Devil's Got A New Disguise, The Very Best Of" from the rock band Aerosmith and - probably because of that - it meanwhile found its way into the tatoo scene.

The offered painting is a replica from Callieni's artwork, painted by an artist from the small town of Rottenburg a.d.Laaber in Germany, between 1900 and 1915, with ink or water color. It is signed with "R. Oettl fät." and has the title "Leben und Tod" ("Life and Death"). The painting itself is 203*289 mm. It is framed with pencil lines, covered by a multilayer Passepartout with a 383*290 mm cutout and framed in a wooden frame with 483*588 mm outside. It weights ~ 2.3 kg inclusive frame. It will be shipped in a 75*53*12 cm box, buffered with styrofoam. For foreign buyers: The seller sells the article as a private person. The seller has made all descriptions and specifications according this article to the best of his knowledge, but without any guarantee to accuracy or correctness.
