Planet plus / Rotur Specialist woodturning products Hollow Ring CentreMorse Taper sizes 1 & 2
5/8" head with 5/16" bore with removable centre point for long hole boring, may also be used as a tail centre. A "Hollow Ring Centre" can be used as a drive in the headstock to help stop wood from splitting, where a normal 2 or 4 prong drive would risk splitting the wood. Although primarily a Hollow Ring centre is used in the tailstock for boring out a hole up the centre of the workpiece. The boring process is basicly, remove the centre point of the drive (using the allen key provided) and the workpiece is bored out from behind (through) the hollow tailstock, the boring is done whilst the lathe is turning, you could use either a long thin gouge or a long drill bit (these are not included!). A Hollow Ring Centre is not something that most turners would use everyday, but its a must have item when you want to bore a hole up the centre of the workpiece, for example a hole for electrical cable to go through when making a lamp.

Abrasive Wood Finishing pads Free postage Grey - Super fine 000 grade Red - Fine 00 grade Green - Medium 0 grade Each abrasive pad measures 115mm x 90mm (approx size) Abrasive finishing pads are made from a woven synthetic wire wool, they are very flexible, extremely tough and long lasting. These abrasive hand finishing pads are made from a mildly abrasive synthetic wire wool especially made for final sanding of wood prior to waxing, oiling, varnishing or painting. The pads are very flexible and this flexibility makes them excellent for rubbing down mouldings, door panels, carvings and for woodturning. When the pads get clogged with fine dust, just wash the pad in water and reuse them, time and time again until they are completely worn away. These abrasive pads can be used both wet & dry. For woodturning, I find these pads are very good for final sanding inside bowls where normal 0000 wire wool may not be desirable (especially if the item is being sold or intended for food use) The pads are also useful for sanding spindle work like penmaking. The abrasive pads are equally suitable for use on other materials like plastics, metals, plaster, fillers, masonry, pottery and ceramics etc. We have many trade customers who use these abrasive pads for rubbing down plaster covings and mouldings. We also have these abrasive pads listed in single grade, multi packs in our Ebay Shop
Liberon tack cloths are excellent for removing dust from all surfaces. Although I only use these myself when woodturning - prior to applying sanding sealer, stains or finishes. I have found that if you don’t use a tack cloth then you just trap microscopic dust particles under your final finish and spoil the overall finish on close inspection. Whilst you can use a damp cloth to remove dust, a damp cloth will raise the grain slightly, which you need to sand back down and this defeats the purpose. These Tack Cloths each come in their own sealed plastic bag, so you only use one cloth at a time and the rest stay fresh. Each cloth is reusable time and time again, I put it back in the bag after use to stop it gathering dust and one tack cloth will last me a long time. Liberon Woodturners Safety Cloth Pack of 10 Large size cloths approx 12 ½" x 13 ½" Applying finishes, waxes or buffing on a lathe has always been a good way to get a great finish. However, with normal cloths, there is always the danger that some threads get caught in the chuck and trapping your fingers or hand, this could and does happen, this can mean the loss of a finger or even worse, as a woodturner myself I know from experence how easily it can happen. These safety cloths have the characteristics of a fine buffing cloth, but are especially made to tear very easily should it get entangled in the chuck or other moving parts, therefore reducing the risk of entrapping fingers. Use the cloth to apply dyes, waxes and other finishes or to simply buff the wood while it's still turning on the lathe. It’s just not worth the risk to use normal cotton cloths, as you only need a accident to happen once! 13mm capacity, heavy duty Chuck With a choice of either Morse taper size 1 or 2 fitting included
