Now that March Madness is here I am offering some Very Rare Once in a Lifetime opportunities to purchase One of a Kind NCAA Basketball Memorabilia. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of what many called the Greatest Upset in NCAA Basketball Championship History. On April 1, 1985 who could have foreseen such an epic game and many who missed it probably thought it was a April Fools Joke but the Very Heavily favored and defending National Champions Georgetown Hoyas played the Villanova Wildcats in what many people said before the game the Wildcats would have to play a perfect game to win and the Wildcats nearly did by shooting a NCAA record 79% from the field, they were so hot that they only missed one shot in the 2nd Half. Villanova went on to beat Georgetown to win the 1985 National Championship 66-64. This week I am offering some Very Rare items from the 1985 Villanova Championship Run. These items are from the "Jake Nevin Collection" John "Jake" Nevin served as trainer for Villanova University athletic teams for over 50 years until his death in 1985. Nevin, then using a wheelchair and suffering from Lou Gehrig's Disease, inspired the 1985 Villanova Wildcats basketball team during their run to the NCAA Championship. In 1985, Villanova renamed the Villanova Field House in honor of Nevin. Villanova also retired basketball jersey number 1 for Nevin. John J. Morris was Jakes Nephew and he took care of him and traveled with him during the 1984-1985 National Championship Season and was the person who was always seen behind Jake pushing his wheelchair. . When Jake died in December of 1985 all of Jakes personal possessions was left to John Morris. As John got older he developed diabetes and could not take care of himself. He came to live with a family friend and they took care of him till he had died in May of 2007. After John had died most of his personal belongings and all of the possessions that had belonged to Jake were given to the family who cared for John Morris. I have obtained these items directly from the family who took care of Jake Nevins Nephew John Morris. All of these personal items that were once owned by Jake Nevin. Included in the collection are Rare one of a kind items such as the Actual Net From the National Championship game against Georgetown. The Net from the SouthEast Regional Finals game to get to the Final Four. The Big 5 Championship Net from their victory against St Joseph. A photo of Jake shaking hands with President Ronald Reagan and also personal autographed by Reagan. A photo album from the 1985 Villanova Basketball season highlighting personal photos of Jake and Villanova players as well as photos of coach Rollie Massimino. There are photos of the trip to Washington D.C. to meet the president as wells as many other photos of Jake and his nephew during the last year of Jakes life. There is even a 1985 Villanova National Championship 10K Ring in the collection and not to mention a Real NCAA Team Championship Trophy as well as many other basketball related items all once owned by Jake Nevin. Some or all of these items will be listed or sold on ebay. In this auction the item for sale is: The Actual Game Net from 2-19-85 Game against St. Joseph to win "The Big 5 Championship" The net does show ageing for being over 25 years old. This net looks to be made of all cotton. The net from the National Championship Game against Georgetown is also cotton net but it was a thicker type of cotton net as you can see the larger strands of the net in the photo of Jake wearing the net in the National Championship game against Georgetown. The net used in the Regional Finals was a nylon net that has what looks like fishing wire in the net for strength. The "Big 5" is also known as The Philadelphia Big 5. It is an informal association of college athletic programs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The five universities that compose the Big 5 are the University of Pennsylvania, La Salle University, Saint Joseph's University, Temple University, and Villanova University. This was game net from the St Joseph win that secured the "Big 5 Championship" Title for Villanova. The net comes with a tag attached to it that someone in the Villanova AD had typed on an old typewriter the following: 1984-1985 Big -5 Championship Net February 19, 1985 Villanova 68 Temple 65 Villanova 80 Univ. of Penn 67 Villanova 80 LaSalle 63 Villanova 47 St. Joseph's 44 With a perfect 4-0 record against the teams in the Big 5 Villanova was crowned the "Big 5 Champions". Villanova went on to play in the NCAA Tournament and won the first 5 games and went on to shock Georgetown 66-64 to win the National Championship on April 1, 1985 in Lexington, KY. This is a Very Rare item from a Very Historical Championship NCAA Season. After this net was cut down following the St Joseph Game by the players and Coach Massimino this net was given to Jake. The whole 1985 season was dedicated to him and the team considered Jake their good luck charm. This item a Very Historical NCAA Championship one of a kind piece of memorabilia. You never see Championship Memorabilia like this for sale ever. This net will come with a Letter of Authenticity that is signed and notarized by the head Family Member who took care for Jakes Nevins Nephew John Morris and whom all of these belongings were given to after John Morris past away. I will also provide you a letter of Authenticity from my company "Championship Sports Rings" one of the very few honest and most trusted sources for Real Championship Rings in the whole country. As a bonus I will include a special Championship Rings Print that I have made to celebrate the 25Th Anniversary of the National Champions of 1985 in the 3 Major Sports. I own these 3 Championship Rings and have shot this photo in my studio and it shows the National Champs Rings from the 1985 National Champs from Basketball, Baseball and the Football Teams. The schools were of course Villanova, Miami and Oklahoma. This print is not available anywhere else. I hold the copyright to this photo as I photographed them. This item is for the hard core sports fan who has everything. It's not an item that you will ever see again up for sale. In fact I have talked to many collectors and many feel that a lot of these items do deserve to go back to Villanova and be displayed in the Fieldhouse that bears Jakes Name. From my understanding the school was interested in many of these items I now possess but I hear that the school tried to purchase them shortly directly from John Morris after Jake died but there was a disagreement with the school in regards to them paying for a portion of Jakes funereal and when it wasn't taken care of John didn't want the school to have Jakes stuff. So now that John has past away too maybe now the school will have the chance to get some of it back. I didn't want the regular fan loose out on a chance at history too so I have made most of the items from the "Jake Nevin Collection" available to the general public so everyone could have a chance at owning some of these Rare items. Another special bonus I will be including a special DVD copy from the 20Th anniversary HBO Special entitled "The Perfect Upset". This program shows the incredible story of how Villanova shocked the Basketball World by beating Georgetown. There are interviews with players from both teams in this special. They mention and show Jake in this DVD Special too. I will also include a DVD copy of the Original Championship Game CBS Broadcast including the trophy ceremony. This is not from a ESPN Classic rebroadcast but from the Original Broadcast and it has ALL of the game footage too nothing is cut out. The quality isn't too bad considering it's from 1985. These items deserve to be in a museum if you are a NCAA Basketball fan look up the history of this team and check out the relationship that Jake Nevin had with this team and you will know why this item is so important and so Rare.
