Greco BM900 - Red Special Replica Guitar (Brian May) The Japanese firm Greco produced commercial copies of Brian's guitar in the 1970s, known as the BM80, BM90 and BM900. These guitars look quite similar to the Red Special and Brian apparently contacted the firm to see if they were interested in making a proper 'Signature' model with authentic looks and sounds, but they declined. Brian does own one and can be seen playing his Greco copy on the 'Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy' promo video from 'Top Of The Pops'. Very few examples have ever been exported from Japan and this guitar, the BM900s featured an unusual scratch-plate, identical to Brian's own Greco! When I purchased this guitar it had some slight damage at the back which can be seen in the picture. I haven't bothered to get it repaired as it is only slight, not out of place on a guitar of this age and adds to the character. The guitar does not come with a hard case but I will provide a soft padded 'Brian May' case to the buyer. I had this guitar imported from Australia about 8 years ago and paid at the time about £1000. This is an essential guitar for any Red Special collection! I would prefer if you collect this item in person because it is fragile and is valuable.
