Ridiculous stock clear out, for sale at any price!
Here we have 2 spectacular LARGE yamadori mountain pines for sale as part of our stock rationalisation efforts. We simply have too many trees on our nursery and some of it has to go even if we lose money. We have a fair amount of money in these two trees (cost us close to £500) but hope sanity will prevail and that we will get at least some of it back. Offered here for auction without reserve on a collection only basis. Both trees were collected in the Italian Alps more than a couple of years ago and are very healthy. The tree on the left of the first picture is Pinus Nigra Var. austriaca or Austrian black pine. Collected a couple of years ago and now very well established. Incredibly tough variety that will withstand almost any conditions from extreme heat to intense cold. The tree has spectacular bark quality, collected at a great altitude this is a very old tree with stunning character. The tree measures 40" tall overall excluding the pot. The trunk measures 7" diameter at the base. The tree to the left of the first picture is Pinus cembra more commonly known as Arolla Pine or Swiss stone pine. This is a five needle variety related to Japanese white pine varieties. These trees grow at the very top of the alps and are the last trees to thrive right at the tree line. These grow slowly and so this example is very possibly hundreds of years old. Well established for 6 years now. Cembra need bright light to thrive but do not like hot conditions. Where we live on the east coast it's too hot and dry in summer for this variety. It will do better in a generally cooler area with more average rainfall. The brown colour on the needles is the result of sun scorch from last summer. The tree has a lot of good sized branches and a huge root flare and will make a very special and unusual bonsai tree. Excluding the pot the tree measures 40" tall and has a 17" diameter root flare. Both of these trees have been supplied to us by a responsible collector that lifts mountain trees from controlled areas complete with permission of local authorities and land owners. We are offering these trees on a no reserve auction basis with collection only from us near Gt Yarmouth. Payment on collection.
