First is measuring approx 4.75" tall, signed "White Buffalo, NY (or Nav? for Navajo?)" on bottom. It has horns, is painted with black and white and green, yellow on main trunk, and carrying a black spear in one hand, and some kind of spear-like object with a blue ball on it in the other. Leather ties and wood wound about its body and wrists. Wood feels very light. Genuine white feathers for its long hair, which runs all the way down its back, as well as boots. Second is "MAID, FOR HEALING, NAVAJO" with one foot raised in the air, as if dancing. It measures approx 5" tall, and its face is painted red with blue and black, and has a bright yellow beak - looks like a bird. This is painted with a variety of colors, esp on its apron. There are black leather ties around its wrist and waist, and its left leg is lifted. Just noticed one red "ear" looks like it's missing. Boots also made of leather (ties around ankles). Genuine feathers for its hair, and around its neck. Third is measuring approx 4.75" tall, signed what looks like "HILIL AM" on bottom. Navajo? It has black horns, and what looks like a black pipe coming out of its mouth, and is painted with a variety of colors, esp on its clothing. There are blue leather ties around its wrist, and its right leg is lifted. Boots also made of leather (ties around ankles). It looks like it is dancing. Genuine feathers for its hair, and around its neck. Fourth
looks like bottom is signed HEMIS and the initials EM? (see photo).
This is a teeny tiny Katsina, and measures approx 1.5" tall. |
