This John Deere 4039 diesel engine is on a trailer that i purchased. It is a leaf sucking trailer & i was told by the mechanics at the city garage, that the clutch went out, but the engine ran before that happened. The clutch is MIA. The fan blades are bent and it's obvious that the fan ate the radiator. I am scrapping the radiator. You will also get the vickers hydraulic pump, which is mounted to the engine (white).
Anyway, I have changed the fuel filter and got fuel through the filter & to the injection pump, but have not had any success getting it from the injection pump to the injectors. It cranks over freely. I will try again when i get more time, but worse case scenerio is, the injection pump may be bad. I forgot to take a photo of the hourmeter, but i will in the next couple days and add it to the photo gallery. I have not had any success, so either the injection pump is bad or i haven't spent enough time cranking it over. I'm done trying. I sprayed a small amount of ether in the air filter, just to see if the engine fires up & it does.
