Description
Antique 19th Century early Victorian Solid Silver set of twelve dinner plates, shaped circular form with slanted gadrooned borders embellished by leaves and shells in relief. The set is fully Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1842 (G), Maker's mark crowned RG (Robert Garrard II), important Royal silversmith (Queen Victoria appointed Robert Garrard to the position of Crown Jeweller in 1843, leading to the production of numerous pieces of silverware for the Royal Family, please follow this link). The plates are engraved with the same crest that also appears on the two large serving plates by Garrard now selling on my shop.
