Meet Harriet Peabody

She is the lucky number SEVEN Once-Loved Doll (O.L.D.) of the series from my book, "Hazel Twigg & the Hollyhock Hideaway."

And guess what?! She looks EXACTLY like the title character, Hazel Twigg! Which is why I took special care in dressing her. But, first! About the girl:

Harriet is one of my favorite molds. I call them "13s". In fact, she's the same mold as O.L.D. number 1, Carol Jane. She is marked with a "13" on her back and is 13" tall (go figure!) with a reddish auburn vintage saran wig and green tin eyes.

She arrived at the hideaway bald, dirty and in need of stringing. You can read more about her and the story of how she chose her own wig (so don't blame me if you're a purist, mad because her wig isn't mohair or human hair!). It's still vintage and suited her so perfectly, I had to say yes.

My philosophy is to do as little as possible to these girls. Mend them, clean them, and dress them up so that they can last and be loved for another lifetime without losing the signs that they were Once-Loved before. Do not look for airbrushed perfection here!

I've done some minor repairs to Harriet. She had a chip on her bum and her toes that have been filled in to prevent further damage, and she's been cleaned. And there's that wig. I love the little girl messiness of it.

And now for her clothing! As you can see, Harriet comes with TWO complete outfits, and each of those outfits comes with a matching hair band. I believe the fabric for both dresses is from around the 50's. Harriet is a comparitively modern girl! There's also a sweet flour sack fabric onesie to wear beneath the yellow dress. The blue dress has a "V"-shaped back and therefore has built in undies.

Her cape! I spent an extra amount of time on it. It's vintage green velvet to match her eyes, lined in goldenrod satin and embroidered with flowers in pure silk ribbon. By tomorrow morning I'll have a post up about Harriet on my blog at Hazel Twigg. You can learn a lot more there and see the illustration of Hazel, whose outfit Harriet's clothing is based on, as well as a close-up photo of her hand-painted pendant, also a very important part of the story.

Her shoes are hand-made as well in green leather with suede soles. They close on the side with antique buttons. Harriet is SO CUTE. You will love her!! A "13" who is a lucky 7! Bid on her and then go get a lottery ticket!

Keep an eye on this listing, I sometimes add details for the next O.L.D. to the bottom of the page. Thank you!

For more photos and details, visit my Hazel Twigg blog and do a search for Harriet.  You can see other dolls and there are also links to Hazel Twigg & the Hollyhock Hideaway to read online free, with the printed book coming this fall. The winner of each Hazel Twigg doll will receive a downloadable version of the book when it becomes available. The difference from the free version is you don't have to download chapter by chapter, it will all be in one fell SWOOP! And there will be gorgeous illustrations from our artist Nina Khalova with each chapter.

For a preview, you can still read a chapter or two! Or three, or four...or ALL. If you like dolls and magic and small towns and old houses, you'll like this book.

Please Feel Free: to ask any questions or request additional photos.

Shipping: if I am off by a dollar or more, back into your pocket the difference goes! I've done it before and I will do it again!

Thank you!
