Packaging Summary
“Join us for a glimpse of the savage splendor and pageantry that was Rome as ordinary living rooms are vicariously transformed into a majestic arena of the ancient world. Even now the blare of trumpets brings down a grudging calm upon the throng that fills the galleries thirsting for the thrills of the day's competition. This is the Circus Maximus. Assembled here from Spain, Thrace, Judea and the far corners of the Mediterranean are the champions of the ancient world, here to pay homage to the Emperor and vie for his gold. The flags are dropped and trumpets blow…the race is on! From behind the matched grays of the House of Gaiius, you carefully watch the Leek Green chariot beside you. The hubs of his chariot wheels glisten in the midday sun, as do the razor sharp scythe blades attached to them. You know they can decimate a wheel with one good blow. You whip up your horses, increasing your speed as you enter the first turn. A wreck! The lead chariot hits the turn at a higher than safe speed. He tries to rein in too late, and skids into the next outside lane and flips! The Leek Green charioteer pulls back, and you shoot into the lead! As you begin to enter the same turn, you wonder if your skill, your chariot and your horses will be able to take the strain without slipping or turning over…

Computer Circus Maximus is the game that puts you in the fast chariots that raced in Roman coliseums. Design your own chariot, balancing speed, endurance, driver skill and chariot strength, and match them in competition against human and computer opponents. Up to 12 people can play, each taking one chariot, but the game is just as exciting and dangerous when played by one. Select a fast team and hope the others won't attack to slow you down, or choose a powerful, heavy chariot that will ensure you finish the race. Also included is a five-race campaign game that allows you to bet on the outcome of each race, acquire a fortune with astute wagers, or be sold into slavery for going into debt. Moreover, Computer Circus Maximus allows players to enter their moves and see the result in animated action! This is a fast-moving game that can be played at a party or at home!

Complexity Level: 3 on a scale of 1 (easy) to 10 (hard).
For 1 to 12 players.
Playing Time: 15 minutes to 3 hours.”
Condition
“New Old Stock” — unopened, unused, and complete.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Avalon Hill titles, but this game's subtitle is a mouthful.

Here's your chance to obtain Computer CIRCVS MAXIMVS complete in original packaging, sealed and unplayed since this specimen was manufactured, for the IBM home computer line and 100% compatible systems. The pictures attached to this listing are of the actual item being sold and should well illustrate any cosmetic flaws present. Pardon the suboptimal qualities of the photos—I am not a steady shot with the camera, and lens flaring or errant shadowing may also be evident, as the packaging remains wrapped in its original cellophane.

I would describe this item as falling within range of near mint cosmetic condition. There is no appreciable wear to the contents enclosed within the plastic wraps, near as I can tell, apart from a mild 1” crease crossing the upper panel and a moderate 1” crease similarly crossing the lower panel. Please note that the labels on the front panel are affixed to the outside the cellophane. Rest assured that it will be properly packaged to preserve its current condition as it travels from my doorstep to yours.

Free insured domestic shipping; trackable international shipping at cost, less estimated expense of domestic shipment for comparable packaging. Please note that this shipping credit is not reflected in the amounts generated by eBay's shipping calculator. If a more accurate figure is desired, please ask for one. Domestic bidders who wish to select an extraordinary means of shipment (e.g., expedited) are responsible for the difference in cost between the method I would have chosen and that requested prior to auction closing.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly should you require additional details or in the event any of the above is unclear.
