Tickle Me Pink is a book of lighthearted poems about cancer, survival and hope.  It's a delightful collection of humorous and uplifting poetry about the cancer journey.  Written by Molly Shoemaker Schaechtele, a four-time cancer survivor, this little collection of poems seems to resonate with cancer patients and cancer survivors.  They buy a copy for themselves, and then return to buy a quantity to keep on hand to give to friends who follow behind them on the cancer journey.  They find these poems to be in turn funny, comforting, inspiring, hope-giving, charming, humorous, insightful, and heartwarming.

This book, measuring approximately 4" x 5-1/2",  was designed to be small enough to fit into a shirt pocket or slip into a purse so that these poems could easily travel to the people who need them most.

If you are a cancer patient or survivor, or know someone who is on the cancer journey, or who has walked this path, please consider sending them a copy of Tickle Me PinkThis special book contains 23 poems in 55 pages - some of them concern breast cancer, one concerns colon cancer, but many others are simply inspired by the cancer experience in general -- what we have to go through as patients, how we fight this insidious disease, how we find hope, how we survive day by day, and how -- no matter how bleak things may seem at times -- we always manage to find something that tickles us pink!

At the time that the author, Molly Shoemaker Schaechtele, began writing this little book of poetry, she was going through treatment for breast cancer.  She was devastated at first, but found hope in a support group.  That was three years ago.  A few months after her breast cancer diagnosis, doctors discovered that she also had a second, unrelated cancer.  It was colon cancer and was Stage IV.  There is no Stage V.

While some of the poems in this book are based on Molly's own cancer experience, many were inspired by the cancer experiences of the women in the support group at her local hospital (Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula) in Monterey, California, or by other cancer survivors she met along the journey.

It’s All About the Ta-Tas

My life is all about the ta-tas,

though it hasn’t always been that way,

for the obsession only started

on diagnosis day.

My ta-tas were always non-descript,

they were nothing much to see,

and it’s safe to say Victoria’s Secret®

was never shared with me.

But when I got my diagnosis,

it changed my situation,

and suddenly my ta-tas

were the object of fascination.

Everyone wants to see my ta-tas.

I’m not bragging for it’s true.

I flash them at doctors and nurses

and technicians too.

They talk about my ta-tas,

they poke them and they prod,

and I’m getting so I expect it

though at first it seemed quite odd.

They take pictures of my ta-tas,

color MRI’s and black-and-white,

and I won’t be shocked to see them

on the internet some night.

When you have cancer of the ta-tas

they get celebrity attention,

but I wish a cure would take me back

to where they barely got a mention.
