Thank you very much for looking.  This is an incredible example of one of the 2 or 3 most highly prized editions of Mr. Salvador Dali's lithographs ever published.  Please contact us with any questions and feel free to contact us at 503 239-5222 during any afternoon except Sunday (Pacific Standard Time) should you wish to speak with us directly.

Also, we have listed and sold two different copies of this same book (#2106 and #1653) in the last three months and as a result of those sales we were offered a third copy in extremely nice condition.  If you look at our feedback you will see a positive feedback left by the purchaser of the last copy we had.  This one is in extremely nice condition, though it does not have the original shipping boxes, though the clamshell box has just a hint more discoloration, as described and shown below.  Thank you very much for looking and we hope this finds you well.

Here we have an incredible example of one of Mr. Dali's most significant books and a rare opportunity to purchase a complete collection of the drawings he drew to illustrate Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".  Published by the Maecenas Press imprint under Random House Publishers, this book was issued published and issued in 1969 in an edition of 2,500 released to the general public.  This is the limited edition, not the Deluxe limited edition of 200 which can sell for $30,000 or more.  This edition is signed on the title page by Mr. Dali, as shown below.  This example of the book is Near Fine when graded conservatively, including the Original tan leather backed clamshell box with thick cloth boards, gilt lettered spine, original leather ties and faux bone clasps, illustrated by Salvador DaliIt is oversized, measuring 18.5 x 13.5 x 4 inches.

This is copy #1952 of 2500 and it is in extremely nice shape.  This includes the clamshell box originally included with the book.  The interior is basically as new, though the front "cover" has a slight wrinkle which I believe would disappear were the book to be pressed flat for a couple of days.  The pages are free of all blemishes and are bright and clean.  All 13 illustrations by Mr. Dali are included in this copy, including the signed frontispiece which is pictured below.  The clamshell box has a small area of discoloration on the bottom edge, as shown below.  This discoloration is contained the area shown and is not present elsewhere on the box or inside on the pages themselves.  There is also the slightest hint of rubbing to the bottom of the leather spine of the clamshell box, as shown below.  This is only present in two small spots.  We grade the book itself as NF+, even with the slight bend to the front cover.  The clamshell box we grade as NF or NF+.

We are selling this copy for a young woman whose Grandmother left her the book a decade ago.  She is in college and needs the money to help pay her tuition.  She has opened the book less than 10 times since she's owned it and has kept it well protected and stored.  There are no odors of any kind and all minor defects have been here described.

This book contains the prospectus and all pages.  All 12 illustrations are present and immaculate.  All 12 chapters are divided into sections, each of which is removable from the box and book itself.  All are present and are in extremely nice condition. As we mentioned, this is the third copy of this book we have had the honor of dealing with and it is a truly beautiful copy of an incredible example of Mr. Dali's work.

As stated on the prospectus "2500 portfolios, numbered 1 to 2500, were printed on Mandeur paper.  Each portfolio is signed on the frontispiece by the artist.  Each portfolio contains 12 illustrations with an original remarque on each illustrations.  One original colored etching signed in the plate is opposite the fronstipiece."

We use the traditional grading system for books and magazines.  The grades are Fine, Near Fine (NF) + or -, Very Good (VG) + or -, Good (G) + or -, Fair and Poor.  I can't think of anything that we will be listing here which will be worse than Very Good or Good.  For magazines, the grades will be Near Mint+(which will be our best grade as we don't use Mint for used or collectible magazines because any circulated magazine will have some damage, no matter how imperceptible) or -, Excellent+ or -, Very Good+ or -, Good or Poor.

-Fine or Near Mint+:  Little to no wear, with at most one or two minor flaws.
-Near Fine or Excellent:  Light wear, described in the listing, may contain a small marking in the book by a former owner.  Possibly a bumped corner or a mark.  Magazine will show a little wear, probably appears to have been read.
-Very Good (both categories):  A little more wear, maybe some creasing or soiling on a magazine; definitely read.  Book showing some light marks on the covers, maybe a bumped corner or two.  Both should be clean inside unless noted.
-Good:  Significant wear, with some soiling and probably some light rips or tears.  Books are significantly worn, soiled and sunned.  Very well read.
