This is an original antique silk tapestry hand woven handbag. Made around 1880 – 1920, made from silk, the frame is gilt brass. This was made in France in the Romantic period, influenced by famous painters of the 17th century. The front has the beautiful image of a Lady holding a Basket of Cherries, wearing a bonnet, she is framed with a garland of ribbon and roses. The back is an arrow with a quiver, a love token with roses, framed with ribbon and more flowers.
It has a brass gold gilt chain, the can be lengthened. It has a working push down fasten that opens up to pink silk satin, that is worn out at the top. The body of the purse measures 9 x 8 inches Condition – good, wear in the silk inside lining Size --- 9 x 8 inches Age --- 1880 - 1920
