WITH CREAM SATIN RIBBON. SINCE ALL COSTUMES ARE CUSTOM MADE FOR YOU
IT IS SIMPLE TO MAKE SMALL CHANGES TO THE COLOURS IF REQUIRED BUT PLEASE
BE SURE TO NOTE THEM WHEN YOU ORDER. -
CAPE - MADE WITH A QUALITY BROWN CHENILLE FABRIC IT IS EDGED WITH CREAM COTTON LACE. TIES TO THE FRONT WITH CREAM SATIN RIBBON WHICH HIDES ELASTIC THAT
MAKES IT EASY TO SLIP ON/OFF, THE ELASTIC ALSO HOLDS IT SO IT CAN'T SLIP
OFF. IT IS VERY EASY AND COMFORTABLE TO WEAR. A SIMPLE TOP OR LACE
BLOUSE WOULD NEED TO BE WORN UNDER THE CAPE BUT THAT IS NOT TOO
IMPORTANT AS THE CAPE DOES MEET TO THE FRONT - THESE TOPS ARE VERY EASY
TO FIND SO A HAND-MADE ONE IS REALLY AN UNNECESSARY EXPENSE.

SKIRT
- THIS IS A FULL HOOP TYPE SKIRT MADE FROM A LUXURY BRONZE TAFFETA FABRIC - YOU NEED TO SEE THIS FABRIC TO APPRECIATE HOW LOVELY IT IS.
THE HOOP IS NOT SUPPLIED BUT IF YOU SEARCH FOR 'CRINOLINE UNDERSKIRT' ON EBAY YOU WILL
FIND LOTS OF SELLERS - THE UNDERSKIRTS CAN BE FOUND FOR AS LITTLE AS
£3.99! THIS SKIRT COULD PROBABLY BE WORN WITHOUT THE HOOP TOO. IT IS
ELASTICATED TO THE WAIST SO IS EASY AND COMFORTABLE TO WEAR AND DUE TO
THE ELASTIC THERE IS PLENTY OF SCOPE IN THE SIZING. PEOPLE OFTEN ASK ME
ABOUT COSTUMES WHICH ARE ADAPTABLE FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEARERS,THIS
WOULD SUIT FINE.
SIZE DETAILS REQUIRED TO MAKE YOUR COSTUME (dress
size/waist and hem length/height)
SKIRT SIZE:
The skirt is elasticated with very stretchy elastic so actual
measurements aren’t critical as there is plenty of scope in the sizing
and it is a very simple alteration to access the elastic through the
waistband to make it a bit smaller/larger if required. (I suggest people
buying these costumes for fancy dress hire/theatre or for different
wearers (ie school teachers) opt for the largest size as it is so, so
easy to access the elastic and draw it in/let it out).
HEM LENGTH:
I generally make
all adult skirts to 110cm/44" approx as a standard length but you have
the option to choose a length in this listing or you can send me the
details in an email by choosing the last length option, I included that
option because I know many people have to run away & measure
afterwards or they want to check how to measure with me first, sometimes
people do send strange lengths through which I always question and as a
guide I have shown that my own length to the floor is 39"/100cm at
5ft2. When you measure please make sure to think of shoes or underskirt
lifting the skirt, my standard length is long but it is a simple job for
you to turn up the hem yourself or even wonderweb it, and I leave the
hem edge neatened/overlocked. It really is a disaster and doesn’t look
the same if it is too short!
UNDER-CAPE TOP IDEAS (What to wear with the skirt/cape): The
lovely lacy tops I use for display have been sourced from local Charity shops -
It really is easy to find lovely lacy blouses and a couple of mine have come
from high street shops too. The childrens ones were just £3.99 so buying a
hand-made one could be an unnecessary expense really!
I
am a professional costume maker/designer and have been doing this work for many
years now. I have done a lot of research to design and develop my costumes into
the ones you see here on eBay, my endeavour is that they both make the customer
look and feel like they are transformed into the character for the period the
costume should represent - which is very important for drama/costume
performances.
The items I sell have been developed/created by myself
(although last Christmas I did see some copies on eBay - Imitation is the finest
form of flattery!!). My costumes are made to a professional standard on
computerised industrial sewing machines - stitch quality is good! They can be
used over and again and the appearance is far superior to mass-produced costume
items made from fabrics which really don't look or feel authentic!!
My costumes are such good
quality that they can be used over and again - unlike many packaged costumes
which only survive one wear!! One of my customers commented that the costumes
are value for money when you think that it is little more than hiring and you
have a newly hand-made costume which you can wear year after year.
The list of costume items I have made and the places they have been
worn/used for over the years I have been designing and making costumes is
endless!

Victorian/vintage tea party dress, murder mystery nights (or
Knights!), Dickens festival events, American Civil War/various
re-enactors/re-enactment scenes, Scarlett O’Hara,
Southern Belle, Antebellum, theatre production,

play/trips to Kentwell Hall/Croxteth Hall/Warwick Castle and other
Tudor or period drama type manor houses and places of historical
interest visits,
a Christmas Carol play
and Scrooge, Tom Sawyer theatre, antique/costume window displays, old
fashioned Christmas, regency/ball gown events (I made several costumes
for
an event in Bath last year) and also for Goth and Halloween
posh fancy dress.
My
customers include schools, theatres, pantomimes, TV studios, fancy
dress shops, nurseries, American photographic studios etc and I am sure
potential customers can see
that I have a lot of happy customers.
FREE COSTUME HIRE TIP IDEA:
I sometimes offer this tip to people who are
concerned about cost as usually people only need their costume for one
wear, many people have successfully done this: Buy your lovely costume -
Wear it - Then re-sell it on eBay = Free hire!
