BRAUN SK 61 Phonosuper “Snow White’s Coffin” stereo radiogram - Designed by Dieter Rams and Hans Gugelot for Braun, 1961

++ Insured Shipping Worldwide ++

Classic vintage Braun product, all original, good working order. Lovely sweet valve sound.

Supplied with cable to connect to CD player or i-Pod (vintage i-Pod not included).

I purchased this in a flea market in Ulm in south Germany in 1992 (wow 22 years ago) and have used it on a regular basis since (connected to a CD player and iPod).

Additional speakers can be connected for that full stereo sound - I've recently  had it connected to a pair of 1960s Grundig ball speakers, and it’s been quite a hit with visitors!

Cosmetic condition: Quite good but not mint condition. Surface blemishes to metal as well as general minor marks in accordance with age and use - see photos.
Paint: Not noticeably yellow-ed but some surface blemishes to the white painted metal (I've tried to photograph this as accurately as possible). It could be considered that this gives the unit a nice unique age patina. It may be possible to polish this off, but I have never felt this is necessary. Also some scratching where the record player stylus has connected with the deck.
Wood: good with only one small bit of ply about 5 x 8 mm missing to the side rear, not generally noticed.
Plastic lid: Very minor crack about 1cm to the left front of the acrylic lid, not generally noticed.

Text: good with no signs of wear from users fingers.
Underside/interior: clean and original, valves fully functional, no visible leaking components

Function
: This is fully working, but is in un-restored vintage condition, so the buyer would be best advised to have it checked by an expert before regular use.
There is a light whine when warming up, and the occasional crackle - which I think is typical of vintage valve equipment. Buyer is welcome to check function on collection.

Radio tuner: function and dial light works fine, needs an aerial connected for good reception.

Turntable: works fine and plays 7" and 12" records as it should.
16 33 45 78 rpm speeds. Stylus seems OK but has had no further tests as I’ve hardly used it, although just testing it now – it sounds pretty good!

Aux: Connections / sockets for external equipment and external speakers seem to function fine. (connection cable supplied).

Power: 110-240 V, 50 HZ, 40 W

Serial Number: 119615

Dimensions:  length 58.5cm (11.5 in) x width 29cm (5 in) x height 24.5cm (9.5 in). Weight 12.3 Kg (27 Lb)
