Vintage Certo ‘Super Sport’ 120 Film folding Camera Made in Germany circa 1938 onwards, but probably pre- war
manufacture as this camera has the extinction meter along with the rangefinder,
but does not have the on body shutter release that featured on the wartime
models. It has a removable panel in the back to allow the fitting of 4.5×6cm
plate holders, or a film pack adapter. The camera was supplied with three plate
holders and a folding ground-glass screen. (
nb: I do not have these and they are not included ) and there is a lever under the lens to adjust the
position of the front standard for accurate focusing for film ('F') or plates
('P'). It is more than likely a Model C as the Model C differs from Model B only in having
the facility to rewind the film. This camera has both a film advance knob, engraved
with frame numbers 1-12 and with a pointer, and the knob for rewinding at the
bottom, The lens is clear for its age, all shutter speeds appear to
work well including the slow ones, the rangefinder appears accurate, I have run
a test film through the camera, please see pictures, and as mentioned above it has
the extinction meter with an interpretation table for this inside the panel
covering the red windows. The rangefinder appears accurate, (see picture taken
with the camera)**, however whereas
I used the rangefinder to take the picture, I cannot guarantee it is 100%
accurate given its age. It has the Schneider Kreuznach f2.8 Xenar lens and Compur shutter. Shutter speeds are 1 sec through to 1/250th ‘T’
and ‘B’ and the aperture range is f2.8 to f22 This camera also has the interchangeable lens facility,
something rare on bellows cameras of the era. All in all a nice little camera, it shows signs of wear and
use but for its age I think it is in good and very usable condition Postage will be via Courier, please wait for an invoice as final post costs will depend on sale price and insurance cover for delivery **nb: The picture was
taken on this camera using Fomopan film,
(the first time I have used this film), … I’m not a fan .. !! |
