Specialized named it the "Epic Ultimate" back in the early 90's. Carbon Tubes (hand made in Morgan Hill, CA) with Titanium lugs made by Merlin back in Massachusetts. I worked for Specialized at the time and I think they made a couple hundred between 1992-95. The last year they made 60 of them and I have #31. I built it for show with all the best stuff I could find in 1995. It's been ridden around parking lots and may have 25 miles on it but it is pristine and hasn't been ridden off-road. Ride it if you want but this could be on display in a museum or gallery. Frame is 19" which is the seat tube measurement, center to center. Top Tube is 23" c - c. The fork was Specialized's carbon version of Rock Shox Mag 20. I had the fork rebuilt two years ago because it was leaking oil. New seals have solved that and it is working great. The brakes are American made Avid Arch Supremes with Flak Jacket cables and housing. Cane Creek Wam wheels built in NC with double butted stainless spokes 24 front, 28 rear. Shimano XTR rear derailleur and 8 speed cassette with Grip Shift X-Ray shifters |
