Vehicle Description

The biggest question we receive is "Why Showhauler?". There are so many great attributes to the design and build of a Showhauler, I will touch on some of those below.

The first and foremost benefit to a Showhauler is a completely welded steel frame on the conversion. Not just the floor and substructure, but the walls and ceiling are a completely welded steel structure and the entire assembly is then welded to the frame of the truck. Competing Super Cs and almost every Class A motorhome on the market today use vacuum bonded fiberglass walls that consist of aluminum, fiberglass, and wood. If you have ever seen an RV that been in a wreck, the units are deemed total losses as they are no longer structurally sound. Just like a car, truck, or even airplane, Showhaulers all have frame work that is either steel or aluminum with sheet metal that then consists of aluminum or steel. I invite you to view the video to see exactly how a Showhauler is constructed.

The second and as equally as important attribute to a Showhauler is customization. Because each unit is built to spec, the length of the conversion can be suited to your wants and needs. If you have a storage space that is 39' and you want to maximize 38' 10" of space in a RV, that is not a problem. Likewise, if you have fallen in love with a floorplan that you wish could be extended a few inches for extra space, Showhauler will customize a floorplan to suit your needs. Now that customization doesn't stop at just length. Showhauler was the first in the industry to offer 2 full size baths, bunks beds, and king sized bed in a RV. In fact we have worked with customers wanting anything from a complete 2 bedroom unit to 4 bunk beds. Because Showhauler is custom, you can choose from wood types and stain colors, color and style of furniture, flooring material, countertops that can go from Formica to Granite to Onyx, and showers that can be simple fiberglass or intricate tile. We have worked with customs wanting to match backsplashes that they have in their homes, so the options are endless. Showhauler offers a level of luxury that is not centered glitz and glamour, true quality and craftsmanship go into each unit. You won't find any cheap laminates and flimsy wall board used in their cabinets.

Third, each Showhauler comes with a 2 Year Warranty that is supported at any RV service center in the country. When it comes to ordering replacements, warranty claims, or if you have questions, you don't have to call in and press 1 to speak to someone. Showhauler has an amazing group that is available most anytime of the day, in fact we as a Showhauler dealer we offer support to each of our customers no matter what time. Each Showhauler build is cataloged and their engineering department can produce diagrams for cabinets, wiring, and components of the RV. So if your ruin a baggage door or somehow rip a cabinets door off, an exact replacement can be sent.

Fourth, the fact that Showhauler only builds on heavier duty truck chassis. Class C RVs and Super Cs in general have a great safety and serviceability benefit. There has been a huge shift to Super C motorhomes in the last few years. Time and time again we hear from people that are making the switch to a Super C that have been involved in a accident. When you are driving in a Class A Motorhome, the only thing protecting you a frontal impact is plastic, glass, and fiberglass. Even a small accident can be deadly in a Class A, not to mention a roll over. With most of our units, the driver will have a airbag which is a huge help. But the real assistance in a accident is the 4-5ft of heavy steel frame along with a massive diesel motor that sits in front of you. Extensive safety testing goes into the trucks themselves from the manufactures, you won't be getting a box bolted to a frame with very little, if any, safety testing. The other major benefit to a Super C is serviceability, with the engine in the front, the engines run cooler and have a longer life expectancy. And when it comes to service no matter if its a major overhaul or a simple oil change and belt replacement, just tilt a hood. It is amazing to look a 45ft luxury Class A motorhome and know that anything outside of a oil change will require the floor of the coach to be disassembled, yet you can replace the entire engine in a Super C without entering the cab at all. Taking all of this into consideration, most any truck repair facility can service and repair these Super C motorhomes. Many service center simply will not work a Class A Diesel, and they always seem to have a much higher labor rate for the RVs.

This is a just a tidbit of information about Super Cs and Showhaulers. We always welcome phone calls and we would love for you to come by and see the difference yourself. Most Showhaulers have been custom built for a specific customer, but we are always working to get more units for display. Please call before you make the trek to West Texas to make sure we have something to show.

Performance Motorcoaches is proud to offer a beautiful 2018 Showhauler that is just 32ft in length, yet packed with options and amenities. Showhauler is the ONLY RVIA Certified Coach builder that has a fully welded steel frame. Additionally Showhauler is the only custom built truck chassis coach builder with RVIA certification. RVIA Certification means you get a fully engineered RV that follows strict guidelines for coach building. Showhauler is listed in the NADA Guide and they are much easier to get financed and insured. They also have some o the highest resale values in the RV industry.

So what is the big deal with with a welded steel frame and why aren't steel frames used industry wide? The simplest answer is time and money! Almost every travel trailer and motorized Rv are built with vacuum bonded fiberglass walls. The walls are produced along with the roof and then are set into place and held together with screws, this process takes hours instead of weeks to complete. And because the walls are built with wood, the potential for water damage is high. Leaks can ruin the wall structure and you don't even want to know what happens in a accident. But I am certain that many people have seen travel trailers that have been wrecked or rolled on the ride of the road, generally all you see is a frame with a couch or toilet bolted and the walls and roof are in thousands of pieces. While the higher end Class A RVs and competing truck chassis coaches(like Renegade and Dynamax)are built far better than a travel trailer, the walls are still made with wood and they are still screwed together. Just do a little online search for RV wrecks and you can see for yourself what an RV will look like after a roof over are major accident. To date there has been 1 Showhauler that has rolled over on its side(in fact on top of a car) and it is still on the road today. You wouldn't ever consider a car or truck that is screwed together, why is it acceptable in a RV?

Showhauler is a true custom built RV. You can pick the floorplan and make changes, you can pick your chassis, and even pick different interior colors along with a different floor selections, wood stains, and countertops. The options are endless and you can build the exact RV to suit your needs or wishes. Because of the full customization of a Showhauler, build times are generally 8-12 months out. Occasionally we have stock units for sale as it is always fun to build something cool and unique. We chose to build this 32ft Showhauler, a deviation from the monster 45+ft rigs. In fact, I built this rig in mind for myself. I really enjoy exploring and doing that in a 45ft rig is not a lot of fun, most of my vacations are in the mountains and generally for a 3 to 5 days at a time. There are just 2 of us when we travel so we didn't need a lot of room. It was important to have a large kitchen and shower, but I have always felt the large bedroom was a waste of space. I came up with the idea of a murphy bed in the living area to maximize space.....I knew I would not need a living room and a bedroom at the same time. I generally do not use new motorhomes when I go on vacation, but I wanted to give this little guy a try and seen how everything worked out and to experiecnce the Freightliner M2 as this was the first M2 Showhauler had produced with the fiberglass front cap.

I did drive this unit from the factory to Texas, approximately 1250 miles. It performed great and did everything I wanted. I knew that going into the mountains would be very different than the flat ground through Illinois, Oklahoma, and Texas. Most of that traffic moves in the 70-75 mph range while the traffic on I-40 in New Mexico runs 80-85 mph. This coach runs and performs the best at 70-75 and will acheive the 80-85 mph speed but I felt I was pushing the coach a little too hard. In the mountains and high elevation passes, the coach had plenty of power, I just had to select the transmission down to keep it from upshifting into 6th gear at lower speeds. I towed a Jeep wrangler and couldn't tell a difference in towing, so the weight is not a factor. In fact I would have no problem pulling a large car trailer and would be comfortable with a small 22-24ft stacker trailer. This coach is equipped with a Cummins ISL which is a 8.9L Diesel that produces 350HP and 1000ft/lbs or torque, this same motor is put in many of the 45ft diesel pushers and rated at 450HP and 1250 ft/lbs of torque. At just 32ft and 25k lbs, this is sufficient power, but if you want to run 90mph in a heavy winds, you will need to upgrade a 45ft 600HP Showhauler!

As far was amenities and options, I generally check every box, this coach is no exception. It has full tile floor, large tile shower, solid surface countertops with glass tile back splash, even a large Tecma ceramic toilet. Cooling the unit are 2-15k btu Coleman Rooftop Air Conditioning Units that have build in heater strips and specifically designed for heavy duty use and service. It is amazing how cool this coach will get on a 100 degree day, in fact most days will require only 1 AC. We did opt for the Oasis Diesel Hydronic Heater which does an excellent job keeping the coach warm and keeping the shower water extremely hot. There is NO propane on board, the large fridge is a Residential 18cu/ft French Door Refrigerator that runs off of the power inverter. I did leave the coach for about 9 hours unplugged and the house batteries still read over 12 volts running the inverter/fridge. This does have the standard 8K Onan quiet diesel generator and is more than enough to run a coach of the size.

The most unique feature of this coach is the custom built Murphy Bed that was designed and built by Wilding Wallbeds. Not only is it a massive queen size bed, it houses a large 55" Flatscreen HS Smart TV and a flip-up dining table. While there is not a ton of room to walk around the bed when it is down, you can walk around the front and side of it. However if you fold the couch down, it does touch the front edge of the bed, but this will allow you to sleep 3 people. I slept great and really enjoyed using this coach. It was incredibly easy to get in and out of tight spots and I can tell you, this is the first Showhauler I have ever pulled a U-turn in! Another great part of this coach is it's usability while driving, you can access everything while driving down the highway and someone can catch a nap on the couch or watch the 2 TVs. And speaking of TVs and entertainment, this does have a second TV that you can watch while in bed and a third outdoor TV as well. Each of these will display the In-Motion HD Satellite Dish Network System. Inside there is a Blue Ray Disk Player and a full surround sound system.

We spent a lot of time making the most out of this coach, it has a ton of room inside and out. We were able to move all of the RV related items to the driver side of the coach and keep open storage compartments on the passenger side. Additionally we did all side swing compartment doors and did fully locking entry, compartment, and cab doors. You can lock all doors via keypad or key fob. It does have a large navigation screen that doubles as a backup monitor, the stereo is Bluetooth audio and phone. I could go on and on about this Coach or Showhauler in general. I have a true passion for these types of rigs and enjoy sharing information with everyone. Feel free to call or email. I have included a video of the factory tour which is great information, it is a bout 45 minutes long, so take a look.
