This guitar was built by the foreman in charge of the custom shop at Carvin.

I got all the bells and whistles on this version of the Holdsworth Fat Boy (about 500.00 in upgrades) AAAA QUILTED MAPLE TOP and HEADSTOCK CAP, ABALONE DOTS, GOLD HARDWARE, SPERZEL TUNERS, PHASE SWITCH, TWO SPLITTER SWITCHES FOR EACH PICKUP.

The guitar is in stunning condition and looks as new.  I say that it has been selectively aged for 10 years. I will say that it sounds much more open and resonant w/ good harmonic content, than compared to when it was first purchased.  Included is a hardshell custom fit case. The guitar is extremely resonant and almost as loud as my archtop, but w/o feedback issues. Neck is the best I have ever gripped.

The HF2 is unique among contemporary 6-string guitars. It has a 2 1/8" thick semi-hollow body made from alder, which is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of it's relative light weight and and fine resonating tone. . The HF2 has a unique twin-beam internal suspension that allows the top and back to resonate freely, producing a sweet, semi-hollow tone.

The neck of the H2 is maple with a gloss finish standard. The neck is precision set into the body, for optimal sustain and playing comfort, a graphite-teflon nut is precision-cut, and allows the strings to move smoothly without binding.

The HF2 features a standard 25.5" scale ebony fingerboard with white pearl dot inlays, and a flat 20" radius with 24 jumbo nickel frets. it.

The HF2 has two lower strap buttons, allowing the guitar to stand safely leaned against an amp.

The HF2 comes equipped with our Holdsworth H22 humbucking pickups. Carvin uses vintage plain enamel magnet wire and seasoned Alnico-5 magnets to achieve Allan's tone. Each coil has 11 polepieces, all of which are fully adjustable to customize individual string volumes. The H22N neck pickup is rated at 7.3k ohms, and produces fantastic singing characteristics, while the bridge position H22T, rated at 8.6k ohms, produces smooth sustain.  Electronics consist of a master volume, master tone and 3-way pickup selector. Splitter and phase switches have been added as upgrades.

"My Fatboy semi-hollow electric features unique twin-beam floating suspension that allows the top and back to resonate freely. A very sonorous tone is the result." - Allan Holdsworth

I just had a 3500.00 PRS 24 custom reserve come in, and I got to compare the two side by side.  The Holdsworth is a bit more open and more archtop like than the PRS, but both are pretty much neck in neck.  I thought the PRS would blow away this guitar, but it did not.  I do like the width on the Holdsworth neck a bit better, and the ebony feels and looks better than the rosewood to me.
