I make this hand crank in my sewing machine shop. I wanted it to use with the singer featherweights allowing children to use it easily. I have also written it into a study for children with Autism. There are sewers that stop into my store and request it to use on a quilting camp or when traveling. Every crank is hand made and comes with easy full color pictured instructions to install it. All you do is remove the clutch knob and screw this replacement into place. Your machine will still fit into the original case but sitting facing backwards instead of facing forward or easily remove the crank when storing it. I have made this attachment for years for private use and have had perfect results always. This will only screw on to the singer 221 or 222 featherweights. Patent pending.
I make it in all black . The hand crank attachment is all metal all American made 1 at a time. I use a l singer clutch knob then drill and tap a hex head bolt secured with a locking pin then locking nut and 1 more locking pin. I attach the handle base held on with a set screw THEN DRILL AND INSTALL A ADDITIONAL LOCKING PIN. The folding handle is attached with a split pin to allow it to fold and finally a rotating knob is pressed into place. I have sewn for 50 years and really enjoy using my handle as I count stitches making my work very neat. Money back guarantee and limited supply as I make these featherweight hand cranks as I have the time. The ultimate green environmentally would be for every featherweight to have a optional hand crank and be used to share the value of sewing TO INSTALL THE CRANK FOR SEWING AND TO WIND A BOBBIN ATTACH THE HAND CRANK AS FOLLOWS...the hand crank operates properly with the clutch plate in poistion where with the clutch KNOB OR hand crank is tight to the hand wheel and the locking screw is in a poistion to prevent the hand crank clutch knob from comming loose. As you probqbly know the clutch plate can be installed in 4 different poistions and 1 of those poistions is where the locking screw holds the clutch tight to the hand wheel.
