Description: The letter deals with business issues. I think the
letter was sent to St. Louis, Missouri but not completely sure.
Norman C. Baldwin (1802-1887) was an early commission merchant,
politician, banker, and prominent citizen in Cleveland and Ohio
City, Ohio. He was mayor of Ohio City from 1838 to 1839. O.M. Oviatt
is probably Orson Minott Oviatt (1799-1869) who was an early settler
and large land owner in Ohio and is associated with the abolitionist
John Brown who stayed on some of his property in Richfield in the
1840s. The other possibility is it is his son who had the same name
and died in 1901.
Condition: The letter has a few small closed tears at the folds
junctions, creases, and some soiling.
