Comments from breeder Matt Pedersen:

"One of two or three offspring that showed up with a rather obvious dorsal deformity (often called “spike” by folks who see them).  I am presuming this was fighting related, but it’s honestly impossible to say.  It’s a shame, as the only other flaw is that the ventral fins might be a bit small (again, many of the fish have similar issues with ventral fins, the results of fighting as youngsters and often losing one or both and them growing back later).  A chunky fish with really nice patterning developing, but definitely not a “first rate” fish.  I do not expect this dorsal spike to ever re-grow into the rest of the dorsal fin; it is more likely that the 2nd dorsal spine is gone, leaving the first one solo, and ultimately, it may atrophy (as has seemed to occur in some others).

A fish like this would fall into my culling category due to the obvious dorsal flaw. As with all fish being offered, the defects are not presumed genetic at this time, and the main reason for offering these fish is to broaded the size of the F1 population going forward (ensuring genetic stability where possible)."

With the successful sale and delivery of the amazing "First 5" a couple of months ago and the "Next 6" last month, it is now time to release for sale the "Amazing 8" Lightning Maroon Clownfish. These are the BEST yet and some or the more perfect of the bunch.

After nearly 3 years of toil, trouble and extreme dedication, breeder Matt Pedersen is proud to offer to the US market the next batch of these truly remarkable fish. For those discovering this amazing animal for the first time, please click HERE to familiarize yourself with the extraordinary journey that has taken place to bring these fish to market.

These next 8 will be auctioned off in individual eBay listings. Each listing will be staggered by about 12 hours to give everybody the best chance to obtain one of these remarkable fish. Three of these fish display the striking lightning pattern similar to their mother while five of these fish look similar to a normal patterned maroon clownfish except for distinctive jagged striping and the odd white dot in different places. These five siblings are the only PNG bloodline maroon clownfish on the market and the best bet for continued breeding and development of the lightning pattern. Matt has more information about this on his website, http://www.lightning-maroon-clownfish.com so be sure to check it out.
